I've heard that some companies doing this. I want to try this myself. any thoughts?

yeah my friends mom did this..she bleached out all the color from before making it white and then once that set for 24 hours she went back over it with the stain of whatever color you like it will work...she just used a carpet shampooer and it looked so good.

Stained??? I think you mean dyed. And it is not easy for a diy to get good results. Most dyes work well only on natural fabrics wool and cotton rugs. Read the following sites opinions. Hire someone who knows what they are doing.

Yes it's possible.
the safest way is with food coloring though, to protect the instance of your child or pet becoming poisened.

yes i spilled i think it was red koolaid on a pure white carpet
on thanksgiving i was so embarrassed
