I think they want to avoid feeling guilty if you buy something more expensive...while crass, it is a nice thought, do not be too hard on them.

Woman will look you right in the eye with a poker face and tell you that price - or size - doesn't matter.

But for the most part, it does matter. So either this person is insecure in their relationship with you and they are trying to 'prove' their love by buying something expensive, or they think you are a gold digger who needs to know how much things cost.

Or a bit of both.

i would think...

-theyre proud that they spent that much money for you and wanted you to know how much it was

-they want you to feel bad that they spent a lot of money on you and they want you to spend an equal amout on their next gift

-they got it on sale and wanted you to know about it

-if it was cheep the person could be saying that to be mean-- heres these earring, they were only a dollar!.....

however... i think thats tacky and rude

maybe they think by telling you how much it costs shows how much they care about you....i think its stupid to tell....its a gift to them and its more the thought that counts than how much you spend

I would think it's in poor taste to do that, but I would still be happy that somebody thought of me and gave the gift, that's the important thing.

Never share the price, it shows you have no class. Price doesn't matter the presence of the gift does.

I would think they were tacky.. if you want to tell someone how much you spent.. (i don't recommend it but) leave the tag on "by mistake", this is still tacky but it looks like you just forgot.

*Don't tell anyone how much you spent on them.

It's a classless and selfish act, but it's obvious that they want you to know how much they spent so that you could measure how much they "love" you.

Very tacky. No ettiquete. Ver very shallow person. Would discontinue my relationship with them soon after that.

that's stupid.
they shouldn't do that, unless they assume you're giving them a gift worth that much money, too.
idk really, but that's rude.
