I would rather be neither, but if I had to be one of them the answer would have to be deaf.
I would die if I could not see my wife and children any longer. I would soon learn to lip read or I could read a note!
I think if you are Deaf, you can still drive. If this is so, then I would still have the freedom to go about doing the things I enjoy.
I know someone who has a child who is both deaf and blind, but has no problem communicating with others.

If I have to choose, and if I was given the choice, I'd rather be blind. Because I could still play my piano without my eye sight but I probably couldn't play it without my hearing.
And there are some things that only blind can see through, like in a song "River of Dreams" by Billy Joel;
"I know I'm searching for something
Something so undefined
That it can only be seen
By the eyes of the blind"
I guess, then, I have to give up on playing pool...

We've often had this conversation at the pub. I think I'd rather go blind. Sure, it'd be more of a life disability than deafness, but I love my music. At least blind I'd still be able to pick up and enjoy my guitar.

I would choose to be deaf. Learning sign sign language for 3 years, I have grown used to many deaf cutumes and became, to an extent, fluent in the language. I always thought the eyes were much more important than the years.

Don't mean to get all serious on you, but my brother is slowly going deaf (I have 50 pc hearing in my left ear, slowly deteriorating. It's hereditary, my Grandparents are both stone deaf, father perfect hearing.... seems to skip a generation, My bro and I landed with the problems.) He is 19 and by the time he is 23, his hearing will be non existent.
To answer your question, I wouldn't like either, although I don't have a choice! But I do remember my brother saying to me once, when he was 7 ( I was 12) that the 'saddest thing was, not that people stared at his hearing aids, but that one day he wouldn't hear the birds sing' :(
So count yourself lucky, that you have both

I would be deaf because the most important thing is to be able to see. If I was blind, I would rather be dead.

Neither, but if I had to choose, I'd definitely rather be deaf.
I'm wayyyyy too visual a woman to want to lose my eyesight.
