I'm trying to help the military out by getting 18 to 30 year olds to join the military. The recruiters here in my area need my/our help. Today I ask a man about 28 years old to join but he told me he makes over 100,000 dollars a year plus he has two children. I say money isn't the problem he should go ahead and join anyways. He had a "I support the troops decal on his vehicle". So he should go into the military. I ask another person ( About 22 ) to join but he stated he's in school and he just bought a new Mustang and doesn't want to trade that in to drive a hummer. Anoter person ( About 29 ) told me to "Go to Hell" then she jumped into her 60,000 dollar vehicle and went into her gated community. How do I get these rich people to join the military?

Well, Look at the recruitment #'s early in the conflicts. When patriotism was High. Many signed up. which was great. I was already in the Us Navy. 5th Generation Sailor. I believe the Media has Hyped up the Negatives of War so much and bashed the policy and the reasons. Spun and twisted the minor issues into Major issues. In this chaos, what has in sued is the fighting age American has lost the will to defend the country.

Blaming Politics, Blaming everyone but their self. Typical American "Patriotism" (Why fight for something I do not Believe in).

Even in WW2, the Masses that signed up to fight Happened quickly and rapidly after Pearl Harbor. And at that time our Army was small before the recruitment. You do know that at the Battle of Iwo Jima...One of 2 shown at theaters across America cause a 70% decrease in recruitment after it aired.

War is Heroic and Glorious in Theory. The Banter of Napoleon riding into the Berlin 1809, Caesar returning to Rome in Triumph, etc. etc. All of this had one thing in Common War was mysterious and the MEN that fought it were Heros.

In today's digital age. With Media coverage and such. War is a Hard pill to swallow. Knowing you might die, by watching it on the news.

Thanks

Thats a noteworthy effort on your part, but to join it is up to each individual in what they want in life. The one good thing about American is that we each have the right to choose or not to join the military. We fight for them to have the freedom to do it or not and support the forces as they see fit. Sometimes it is by placing a sticker on their bumper or getting an education and supporting it in the business they are in that makes military parts or uniforms.

It is not your responsibility to talk them into joining but like I said your efforts are appreciated. One piece of information that is not provided, is are you in the service? If not then why are you trying when you wont join? One thing I have seen is why should someone else do something if the one that is trying to convince them wont do it either. There are plenty of Americans that are joining the military and I’m sure at times the military turns people away from serving from one reason to another. Either they have medical limitation of other problems that would not make them a good asset to the military. Not everyone needs to join the military or they are cut out for that life. Americans need to support the troops in what ever way they can, we each do it in various ways, from growing/producing food, clothing, providing medical needs for our veterans and current soldiers. We may not see how they serve, but should no criticize those that support someway. I have been serving for over 24 yrs in the USAF and I appreciate it when I get someone say "Thank you for serving" . Hang in there and dont get too disappointed when some aren’t willing to join the military. :)

Hey Fascist,

it's not your business whether or not anyone joins the military. Without a draft, people get to choose if it's worth it to them to risk dying for the greedy interests of neocon rightwingers and christian evangelical fundamentalists. Sorry if that conflicts with your goose-stepping attitude, but that's just how it is. Too bad more poor young people aren't willing to tell the likes of you to go to hell, 'cos that's where warmongers belong!

Nikon: that is a really good question. There is a book out right now...I'm having a senior moment and cannot remember the name or the authours . . which ask exactly the same question. Why is it no longer considered a duty for upper middle-class Americans to serve in the U.S. armed services. "I served my country patriotically in a different way" (used by Cheney, Hannitey, O'Reilly, etc.) is the the biggest bunch of BS I ever heard.

You can disagree with the policies of the administration and still serve honourably. Trust me, most of our men & women in uniform ARE serving honourably. It's the pukes like the neo-cons in office, and the dittoheads in the media who are disgracing themselves by wrapping themselves in the flag of pretend patriotism.

Rich people hardly EVER join the military. The republicans would never allow them to be drafted, not after vietnam.

Why don't you stop harassing people? Come up with a civilized way to convey your displeasure with the war. Personally, I'd kicked your *** if you did that to me (besides, because I've already done my time in the military, I'd have to kick it a second time just for being presumptuous).

Gee, maybe because they aren't in the mood to be sent to the sands of Iraq. Why don't recruiters go on 6 month rotations to fight as well? Here you are trying to talk people to go and fight. Why aren't you fighting? Why don't you do 6 months recruiting and then 6 months in the battlegrounds? Practice what you preach. You want these people to be willing to fight and die, how about you leading the way hyprocrite?

rich people are usually fat and run slow -- you could chase them and club them and throw them in the back of a van. will the military supply you with a van? i think the back should probably have some kind of fairly secure locks. some military defense contractor should be able to supply them.

i live in orlando, fl and could give you a map to neighborhoods with rich fat people.

people have a right to disagree with the war, and violence, and IRAQ and everything else military. Dont get me wrong, i support the troops very much. I just think its EXTREMELY SAD that they dont get to fight for something they believe in...It is not a good time to be in the military. Not with the idiot who is the current president. He is making the whole world hate america.
