I bought a sandwich on Wednesday from a convient store (a hoagie).
I forgot about the sandwich and it has been in my bag for over 52 hours. It still in it's orginal plastic sealing, so I do not believe any air has gotten into the sandwich.
Is it still edilbe?

Edible? Technically you COULD eat it.
Would you live? Be ill? Be permanently damaged?
Quite possibly. In fact 'possibly' is so close to 'probably', they're making wedding plans for the spring.
Air has nothing to do with it. Plenty of bacteria (some of the nastiest, in fact) do their best (worst) without air.
And consider the source... Convenience Store Cuisine is not going to come from a hospital-sanitized food source, and isn't going to be made by Emeril LaGasse.
Face it, some dropout with a runny nose slapped your hoagie together a week ago and you just got it 52 (unrefrigerated) hours ago.
Stomach Russian Roulette, anyone?

If I was you i would just buy another sandwich and call it a day! Just throw away that bacteria infected sandwich! The mayonise, lettuce probably got soggy by now and the cheese and meat is bad by now. It might look good but trust me its not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you can eat it but it's not recomended the cheese and meats are probably spoiled by now and the bacteria might have transferred over to the other stuff

It may be off especially if there was perishable stuff in it like meat or cheese

NONONONONO!!!! The meat will have gone bad without refrigeration, even if it doesn't taste bad believe me you will be SO SICK!! Not worth it! Food poisoning is zero fun - first you're afraid you're gonna die, then you're afraid you won't!!

the sandwich was a gamble from the beginning...unless you are stuck without anything else to eat....feed it to an animal or toss it!

72 hours is pretty long..it would of being edible if it was inside a refrigerator...don't eat it you might get food poison,,,,

an air tight bag means it can stay good for another month ya you can eat it

I wouldn't eat it. You never know what could be growing on that thing.
