There is nothing in tin foil that would cause more bacteria than normal to form, so I would think that doing so is okay.

Problem I ve had with putting foil in the fridge is that it often gets little holes in it, esp when I use it to cover lasagna or tomato sauces. It s like the acid breaks down the foil.

It's safe. The foil doesn't cause the bacteria, the decaying food does.

Your chilli will freeze better if you divide it up into four or five separate amounts as it will freeze faster. When the chilli has cooled you can put it in zip lock freezer bags (plastic bags with zip closing) leaving some space at thetop for expansion. Just make sure that you press out all of the air before completely closing the zip and lay the bags flat in the freezer.

I've been doing it all my life and it hasn't hurt me. Just be sure that you do not let it come in contact with anything acidic, as it will break the foil down and the foil will stick to your food. (Probably not healthy)

Bacteria will form on cling film, plates & bowls etc just as fast as on foil.

that all depends on what you are putting in the foil. foil will not cause bacteria unless there is bacteria on the foil.

If you don't make sure the foil is completely covering the dish, then you can have a problem, but if it's secure, no problem at all.

If you refrigerate soon after cooking, I see no reason foil can't be safe.I only leave left overs in my fridge for 2 days, and out they go........
