Go to court and explain the judge that you did not do anything wrong.

First, let's be honest with yourself. Did you or did you not come to a complete stop before proceeding into the intersection? Or did you come to a stop past the stop line, if there is one? If there is a stop line painted on the roadway and you stopped past the line, then that can be considered as running the stop sign even if you did come to a complete stop. Were you second or third in line at the stop sign. Each car has to stop at the stop line. Just because there may not be traffic close by does not mean that you have the right to roll through after the first car proceeds.

Basically, when you stop at a stop sign, you should look left, look right, and then look back left before proceeding. If you make a habit of doing that it will keep you from getting stopped for running a stop sign...and getting T-boned for not stopping and looking. Be careful what you say in court if you are going to fight. Our department uses on-board camera systems that record all the time. When the officer turns on the emergency lights, the camera systems puts onto the hard drive the prior 60 seconds to the offense. You may have been "caught on film." If that was the case, your chance of winning is slim to none.

First of all, did you run the stop sign or made a rolling stop? If you did you can fight it but you won't win.
