ANYTHING OVER 5 MINUTES WILL HARD BOIL YOUR EGG

Lower eggs with a spoon into boiling water let sit for around 5-8minutes or until you can see some cracks and some egg white strings comming out.

I prefer soft boil or some call it half boiled eggs, cook in boiling water for 1 or 2 minutes, depends on how soft you like it, crack it up and pour into a plate, add a dash of soy sauce and some pepper and it tastes heavenly with buttered bread!

Actually in Asia, there are some shops which sells this special bucket (fits around 6 eggs) that cooks soft/half boiled eggs Perfectly every time, its true.

It works by pouring boiling water into the bucket with the eggs lined up inside and this bucket has small pin size holes on the bottom of the bucket which controls the flow of the boiling water into a lower container (2-3mins), once the water is drained into the lower container the eggs are cooked (soft/half).

I love this bucket, its takes all the hassle (worries) out of cooking soft/half boiled eggs, all you need to do in the morning is just pour hot water into the bucket.

I usually do 8-10 minutes. I should add that you have to put the eggs in the water and THEN bring it to a boil. This might seem like common sense but I know people who have dropped eggs into boiling water and wondered why their eggs were exploding. So. Yeah.

Five minutes.
If you don't want to use a timer, put the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with water. Put on the stove and bring the water to a rolling boil. Turn off the heat and leave the saucepan on the burner to cool down.
That Will take longer than 5 minutes but it cooks the eggs without leaving a dark ring around the yoke.
Oh! before putting the eggs to boil, put a tiny hole in the large end of the egg to stop the shell from cracking.

Take your pan and place the egg(s) in it. Cover completely with water and put on the stove on high heat. Once the water begins to boil. Once it boils for 10 minutes turn off the heat. Let it sit for about 5 minutes then rinse the eggs under cold water. then you can peel the egg(s).

If you put a little salt in the water 1/4 of a teaspoon, the water will boil faster and the egg(s) will be easier to peel. Good luck!

Here's a great way I learned how to boil eggs. Place eggs in cold water make sure the water level has covered the eggs. Once they start to boil, boil 6 minutes. Take off the heat and cover with foil for 4 minutes. After the 4 minutes rinse with cold water and put ice cubes. This will shock the eggs and stop it from cooking. Shocking also helps the eggs peel easier.

RE:
How long does it take to hard-boil an egg?

From room temp: Into a saucepan of cold water, bring to the boil, then simmer: Soft boiled 3mins, and then up to 8mins for hard boiled (for sandwich making). Don't boil for any longer otherwise you cause a black lining round the yolk. If they're straight out of the fridge, add one minute to each time given.
With yet another "Egg Scare" hard boil if they're from the corner shop (i.e. Spanish eggs) or don't buy Spanish - buy English from wherever.

It takes about 12 minutes to hard boil an egg. add some salt to the water when you boil it. When you are done crack the shell and run it under cold water for 2 minutes that will make the shell come off easier!!! Good Luck !!!!

Here is the perfect recipe for hard-boiled eggs:

In a sauce pan, heat 1-2" water to boiling.
Insert a collapsible steamer and put your eggs into the steamer.
Turn down heat to moderate, cover the pot, and in 13 minutes they're done.
Drop hot eggs into ice water to stop cooking process.
Perfect every time!

SOMETIME LATER: In spite of someones bad natured thumbs-down given me and everybody else, my method will work perfectly.
