My dad had a 1949 Studebaker pickup truck. I have been trying to find one in die-cast for Xmas. I haven't had much luck.

Look in toy stores or toy departments, I have seen some under the Johnny Lightning brand.........Not sure if they were the correct year or not.....or you can try the toy area of auto parts stores & even some gas stations sell diecast....or try an ad on craigslist.com for your area & list this under Items wanted.....
