It is quite possible that not everyone is as diligent in their work as you are. Also very possible that the workers in question think they are helping by doing what they do. Alot of the people in question had children who were American citzens, though their parents are not. Because the children themselves are eligible citizens, they can get welfare or food stamps to feed them. In fact, through an article in the L.A times, the county supervisor said that about 100,000 children of illegal immigrants in the county collect $276 million in annual welfare benefits. He also stated that 98,703 children of 57,458 undocumented parents received Cal-WORKS welfare checks in January, or a total of 156,161 recipients. Most of this was because the children were citizens. Though I am not familiar with Cal-Works or what benefit it entails, studies have found that due to 1996 restrictions, it is harder for illegals as well as natives to get welfare. But, the proportion of illegals who get food stamps and medacaid is significantly higher than that of the native population. In fact, it was found post 1996 reform that the percent of illegals who naturalized jumped significantly, all among those who had once received aid. It was also found that one in three families headed by an illegal immigrant is using one type of welfare or another. And because they are not usually educated people and are often low skill workers, the ones that do contribute taxes contribute much less than other families. For this reason, if we legalized them tax payments would increase 77%, but the net deficit would rise to 117%, because they would be legal to receive all the services that they are currently having difficulty accessing now.

Professional forgers can, and do, make fake drivers license, birth certificates, greencards, passports, Social Security cards, and even security passes for Federal buildings and other high priority places, that even experts can't visibly detect is a forgery. All an illegal has to do is fork over about $100 +/- and he can get one or more of those cards. If he has one like a Soc.Sec. card, he can easily acquire the others. There are forgers on the Mexican side of the border in plain sight of the border patrol, making those ID's. The border patrol can't do anything to them because they are on the Mexican side. Those ID's should be checked closely. The birth certificate or SS# could be one of someone who has died. It could be easily checked out. See if the person originally has or had an American name, or was of a different age, or even gender. If the person using the ID can't speak English, that is a tell-tell sign, right there.

You say you can spot a fake ID but there are plenty of people who can even fool the FBI, CIA and Intel people so are you more qualified than them. I think not. There are plenty of cases of people being caught with fake documents ( some of the hijackers from 9/11 had them) and it is so easy to get fake ssn# that a 3rd grader can do it. If we assume that you and your fellow DHS people could spot a fake( which I doubt) there is still all the free school, ER visits, damage to roads and other public property, legal cost and prison cost for the criminals that get caught (over 30% of our prison population is made up of illegal aliens), cost for medical expenses for injuries caused by illegals (over 4000 DUI accidents last year were credited to drunk illegals. There is no use in trying to hide facts and opinions mean nothing to the rational.

actual, this is what the regulation demands. the employer could be breaking the regulation in the event that they did no longer hearth the worker in the event that they have been no longer able to tutor criminal status in the USA. and that they could ask any time. as nicely, in the event that they're in the USA illegally, what are they going to do, sue the employer? this is an show practice to deportation.

The unfortunate truth is that some of the illegal immigrants living in the U.S. acquire fake identification cards and social security numbers for the purpose of receiving welfare benefits, obtaining housing, and even to get jobs that they would normally be unqualified for (due to their immigration status, that is).

By the way...I totally agree with david42 in saying that the U.S. is in desperate need of a functioning guest worker program.

Proof of legal status is required to obtain public assistance. Yes, I am sure that there are instances of fraud. My assumption is most undocumented workers come here to work and they would not come if there were not jobs. We need a functioning guest worker program that fills our worker demand quickly and then allows for tracking of the guest workers. Then, if the job is eliminated, the worker can be returned to the native nation.

i totally agree with you...when i went to get my social security card...they had to submit all my documentation with DHC-ICE to verify it was legitimate....maybe there are corrupt workers within the welfare department who collaborate with the illegals for extra cash on the side....
