Hinduism is considered to be the oldest living religion in the world. Unlike most other major religions, Hinduism has no single founder and is based on a number of religious texts developed over many centuries that contain spiritual insights and practical guidance for religious life. Among such texts, the Vedas are the most ancient. Other scriptures include the eighteen Puranas and the epic poems Mahabharata and Ramayana. The Bhagavad Gita, which is contained within the Mahabharata, is a widely studied scripture that summarizes the spiritual teachings of the Vedas.

Hinduism is sometimes called a polytheistic religion, but strictly speaking, this is not accurate. Hinduism believes in One God, but asserts that the One God can appear to humans in multiple names and forms.

It's hard to tell which is the oldest but my best guess is Animism and/or Shamanism... then along came a warrior, Zoroaster [Zarathustra], who believed in the God of Good and the God of Evil when he founded Zoroastrianism.

It's quite possible that the latter predates Hinduism [about 5-6,000 years old now], which is considered to be the oldest ancient religion that continues to flourish today. This is the religion of Sidhartha 'Buddha' Gautama before he got enlightened to found Buddhism... which was five centuries before Yeshua Messiah [PBUH] came along. He was a Jew who practised Judaism that was founded by Moses about 3,000 years earlier.

Yeshua Messiah founded Christianity 2,000 years ago and around 500 years after His passing, along came Mohammed who founded Mohammedanism or Islam, as we know it today. By that time the followers of Islam and Judaism were being persecuted by the warriors and Crusades of the Roman Catholic Church...

And the rest, as they say, is escathological history.

Peace be with you.

Many think the oldest religion in recorded history is witchcraft, but that is in error. If your definition of a religion includes the worship of the one true God then that is the second oldest in recorded history-Gen.4:3,4. The oldest is humanism, the religion which teaches the evolution of man from ape towards godhood- Gen.3:1-7

Believe it or not--it is Jehovah's Witnesses! You can read this in Hebrews chapter 11 to Chapter 12, verse 1.

Hebrews Chapter 11 mentions Abel, Enoch, Moses, etc. Then chapter 12:1 describes them as WITNESSES. Even Christ was a Jehovah's Witness. Read the Gospel, and Revelations 1:5

As God actualy walked and talked with the First man and woman and gave his direct Word and Will to them... I would have to say The Church of which Jesus The Christ(GOD) is The Head would qualify as The First Church.... The first "religion"(which is an invention of man) would probably come from Cain, the son of Adam. That one would include all those who reject God today in it's ranks. this today would also be a continuation of the decptions of the decendents of Ishmael... all man invented "religion" is a deception of satan. with,IMO(in my opinion) islam being the greatest deception of evil today

That's still around? Probably Judaism, with Hinduism as a close second, or the two reversed. Most likely that way, though.

Islam,

Islam began at the time of Adam and Eve however was completed after the death of the last Prophet of Islam: Muhammad (pbuh). He is the 'seal of Prophets' and brought the final message, which is the Quran and from His teachings and examples came the Hadith. 70% of the Quran is proven by science and the Hadith is still relevant to this very day.
