My "Fairy God Daughter" will be born into this world during the next several hours. She will have Caucasian, Native American (Ojibiwe) and African American lineages. As her "Fairy God Father", what blessings can I give her as I hold her in my arms for the first time tonight? Suggestions for poems, blessings, wishes, prayers, traditional words and rituals from a wide variety of religious, spiritual, cultural and ethnic backgrounds are welcome.

I'm Gay, buddy. Gay as the day is long. My official title, according to her mother and her entire family, as suggested to me, is "FAIRY God Father". In fact, being her FAIRY God Father is my favorite part of being her God Father. This isn't a joke question, and I'd appreciate intelligent, spiritual responses.

THE DRUIDS' PRAYER

Eternal Spirit of Light, grant us protection;
And in that protection, security;
And in that security, knowledge;
And in that knowledge, awareness;
And in that awareness, the awareness of the rightness of things;
And in that awareness, the love of it;
And through that love, to come to the love of all Creation;
And in the love of all Creation, the love of the Divine Spirit
And all Goodness, Beauty and Truth.

Other than this, give her the knowledge that should she ever need someone's support, you'll always be there.

This is a very well known (I believe Navajo) saying:

Now I walk in Beauty
Beauty is before me
Beauty is behind me, above and below me
Now I walk in Beauty

Say that for her and she will always be surrounded by beauty (and she'll certainly be beautiful given her bloodlines).

Congratulations on becoming a Fairy God Father!!

Blessed be.

Welcome baby (or child's name) to our world
how brave of you to come.
We are here to welcome you
as your journeys just begun.

Here's our opportunity
to help each other grow.
To experience all the things,
alone...we would not know.

You have been very successful,
from your very start.
Just welcoming you, has made us all
release love from our hearts.

So remember little baby (or child's name)
as you grow into your dreams.
Everything in this world
is not always what it seems.

Welcome others into your world
and it is there, that you will find
All the love you ever knew
was never left behind.

I don't know who wrote this, it was read at a friends baby welcoming ceremony. Congratulations to you!

A baby points the way from which we came. A baby takes us back to who we really are before all the layers were accumulated. A child points to our innocence... to purity... and glee. Only a baby has the capacity to laugh like that... at the sheer joy of being alive!

I very much like the rabbinic blessing from the Torah, which was spoken by Moses to Aaron and his sons:

"[May] the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace."

Mazel Tov! (Happy day!)

So, you guys are fairies huh? Cool, I like fairies. Hmmm I will write a poem for you to use, if you like.........
Sweet baby girl, so tiny and new
I pledge my loyalty and love
To help watch over you
As you grow, little one, I will be here
As your loving God Father
Whether far or near
So please call on me, whatever the need
Your friend from day one
A true friend indeed.

LOL..............I think you need to eliminate the word "Fairy".

She will be your God Daughter when she is baptised.

Bless your mind that you may be filled with wisdom and dreams.

Bless your eyes that you may have clarity of vision and see goodness.

Bless your mouth that you may speak the truth....
