It was prophecied long time ago! Jesus said that due to violence and suffering the love of many will grow cold. Paul also said that in the last days people will be heartless, violent, lovers of pleasure rather than God.

Dammit, there you go again, draw me in with the L-word, then out pops your "god" agenda. Arrrrrgh! I love alot. I love my family, my pets, my fellow man, my planet, the arts, the people who think they're trying to help by telling those who don't agree with them that they're going to hell for being different. I love you all. And I don't need an imaginary diety to do so. I wish you people would understand how silly religions seem to those of us who have searched for the answers and know that they can't be found in church or in the pages of the bible or koran or torah or anything like that. Yes, love and help your fellow man. If you feel you need to give a "god" the credit for what you do, go ahead. As long as the good is done, the world will be better for it. Peace

I think it is more of a fear of rejection, or falling in love then getting hurt in the long run. People put up a front and mainly the people why are affraid of love have already gotten hurt in the past so falling in love again to them doesn't feel "safe".??? This is only my views....

Love is the most powerful force in the world. It produces wonders in a selfish world. But love means risk. One compromises one's security by reaching out to seek the good of others. Only when they feel safe enough to absorb the risk can most people attempt to love. Even fewer can ignore the risk and sacrifice their near-sighted self-interest.
This applies to accepting love too. Allowing someone to improve your life without assuming an obligation to repay can lead to unpleasantness later, but negotiating the terms violates the spirit of love. God is above all that, but God tends to speak in actions, not words, so the invitation is frequently drowned out by louder voices.
Most of us find "God's Love" sold in convenient, slickly packaged messages from people who turn out to be hucksters. More people would accept God's love and live in it if they could determine it was the real thing, but such love is hard to find, and so easy to exploit.

I love. I love my friends and I love my family more than anything in the world. I agree with you that to love is truly to live.
I'm also an atheist. The idea of God's love is an evil lie.

It depends on what you mean by "love."
If the love is romantic love for another person, I'm afraid of it because that is so often a naive illusion that will only end in tears.
If it is the "love of God," I am afraid of people who think the only way to experience that is to give your life over to a rigid cult framework in which you love God by proxy, and receive Its love conditional upon your adherence to manmade rules.

Love has different flavours. Which one are you referring to?? -- Love is described as a deep, ineffable feeling shared in passionate or intimate interpersonal relationships. In different contexts, however, the word love has a variety of related but distinct meanings: in addition to romantic love, which is characterized by a mix of emotional and sexual desire, other forms include platonic love, religious love, familial love, and the more casual application of the term to anyone or anything that one considers strongly pleasurable, enjoyable, or desirable, including activities and foods.

Religious people are setting a bad example. Here in America most christians support torture and the death penalty and war. When someone's telling you about God's love and then tells you that God is supportive or permissive of Torture, Killing and War, you tend to stop listening to that person because they are clearly full of it.

Not everyone is afraid. It depends on ones experiences in life .If they were bad, then they don't want to take a chance on being hurt.. If they were good, then you will open up your heart and take that chance. One must never be afraid to love it is worth the chance. So open up your heart and let love fill it up.
