Does anyone know where the last name Batres originates from?

Batres is my married name. My husband is from Durango, Mexico where he has quite a few Batres relatives. Even though to me it seemed like a rare last name, I have noticed it pop up more lately.

i know this is a place in spain maybe relatives from your husband came from there several centuries ago but came to mexico. also spanish speaking.City of Batres (Madrid Community, Spain)

There are some other Batres in Mexico City as High Ranking Officials for the PRD (political left party)
