Push ups and sit-ups are simple. Many back problems are caused by weak abs.

Bent over rows can help, as can reverse sit-ups.

It is an extremely bad idea to work the lower back, especially in weight training. The intervetebral discs in that area of the spine do not have the correct range of motion to accommodate your exercise and will degenerate. This is most definitely a situation you do not want (unless you enjoy hellish pain most of the time). As a matter of fact, while doing any sort of weight training you want to specifically lock out any motion in the low back to prevent the discs from being, ummm, ripped apart.

Now, if you are looking for relief from lower back pain (usually because of degenerated discs), then you want to do something called McKenzie exercises. These put the lower back into extension. You couple this with traction or, more effectively, flexion distraction treatment done in your chiropractors office.

Which brings up an important point. If you have low back pain, you can't simply do a bunch of exercises and have it go away. This can be dangerous. Low back pain has a complex origin that takes a doctor to correctly diagnose what is going on. How you treat it will depend on this. Do the wrong treatment and you can make it worse....sometimes ALOT worse.

If you are having low back pain, click this link and find a chiropractor in your area who is certified in Cox distraction technique (also known as flexion distraction). Go see him and have him do a physical exam on you to find out what is going on. He will prescribe the correct exercises to do at home that will make you better, instead of worse, teach you more than you thought possible about your condition and what to do about it and do effective therapy on you in the office.

Lay on your stomach. Raise your head and shoulders off the floor while your arms are at your sides. Then raise one leg and then the other off of the floor. Kinda like a banana. Helps with muscles in lower back and upper hip area.

Great Pyrenees are wonderful dogs to have. Their size alone is a deterrent to people and once they outgrow puppy hood tend to be lazy. Also for the size of them the have remarkably small appetites although they get upwards of 100 lbs. They will also bond well with your family and will protect them to the end, but you must socialize them well. They also take some grooming I brush our 2 every night watching TV but excercisewise they lazzzyyyy!!
