He just learned how to break off the door knob covers. He gets into things so I need to know when he's out. Unfortunately our bedroom is upstairs and his is downstairs so I still use the monitor to hear when he is up. A door sensor sounds like our best bet but I don't know where to get it and not spend a lot. Thanks!

ok- walmart and babiesrus. I don't see it on their websites. Anyone have a link to the product or product name? I rather get it from WAlmart because it's close- was it in the baby section?

Home Depot and Lowes' carry a huge supply of baby safety items such as door sensors, electrical outlet covers, cabinet locks and corner cushions which can be used on coffee table corners or any object with a sharp edge.

I got an inexpensive one that sticks onto the edge of the doorframe and the door. When the magnet seal is broken (when the door is opened) the alarm sounds. We put ours on the back slider door. They come in a pack of four, and I got it from Longs Drugs. They also carry them at other drug stores like Walgreens and Rite-Aid. It was around $10, and they are made by First Alert.

We got one from Wal-Mart for about $15 and it had 3 in it. It lets out a very loud sound constant or intermittent when the two pieces are apart (when the door is open).

RadioShack used to carry door chimes. It simply chimes when the door is opened and contact is broken. Check with them! If they don't have it, they can probably help you put something together that will work.
