There are a lot of things that you didn't explain. How old is your brother. What did he do (if anything) that your grandfather was hitting him? Is your grandfather your brother's legal guardian? How hard did he hit him and where? Did it leave marks?
My parents hit me when I was little. I don't know that it was the smartest way to discipline me - but it didn't mess me up. They never hit me hard - and it really was more embarressing than anything.
If this was your grandfather disciplining your brother by giving him some wacks on the behind - and your grandfather is the legal guardian of your brother - this would not be considered abuse by the authorities.
If you have a Mom and/or Dad in the picture and they don't believe in physical discipline and your grandfather hit your brother really hard - and your brother is scared to tell anybody - then you need to speak up. Or if you don't have a Mom/Dad and your grandfather was hitting your brother really hard - and your brother had done nothing wrong - tell an adult who you trust. Maybe a teacher or a school counselor.

Call the police!! How old are you and your brother... why is he being abused? Honey i would call the police, or if your scared to tell your parents (Where are they by the way) or tell some one older then you, no body should be abused especially for no reason, you should tell someone ASAP otherwise your brother is gonna have some serious pychological problems when he gets older!!!

You should talk with your brother and see if this is the first time it has happened. If it is going on all the time, I would seek help from social services or report him to the police. No one should have to grow up in that kind of atmosphere and your grandfater might need to see a therapist to deal with his anger.

You need to tell a responsible adult who you trust to take care of the matter. If you don't feel like you can talk to your parents, etc. then talk to your counselor at school. If you do nothing now, I promise that you'll regret it much later in life when you look back on it and think, "I could've done more for my brother when he needed me most."

Absolutely call the police immediately. Family domestic violence is a crime. I would not put up with that for 1 minute. If there is any evidence (marks, cuts, etc) take some pictures right away.
Cheers!

omg i really think you need to tell the police
do you realize that can ruin your brothers life
maybe when hes older he might still be hurt and do the same things to his kids or grandkids
that can also effect you
and if you dont do anything i would say you are truly a bad sister

how old is your brother? You need to tell somebody NOW. tell your mum or dad or aunt, someone that you trust to help you. If you are in the UK there is Childline, sorry I don't know the number but you should be able to find it online.

You have to tell someone. If your brother gets beaten like that and noone says anything he is going to think that is how things are supposed to be. He will pass it to his children and so on... I would bring it up to my parents so that they could confront him.
