My dad was contacted, thru a dating service, by a 29 yr. old female that is in Russia. They have been e-mailing for about 6 weeks. She has sent letters and pictures and told him her life story. How she grew up in an orphanage, etc.. He thinks this is legitimate. He is lonely, a widower and can be very vulnerable. He has sent pics. of himself and seems to think she is sincere. She mentioned a birthday coming up soon, and he asked her what she would like. No answer yet, so he believes she is trustworthy. Help, I think this could be a scam. What do you think....How do I convince my dad to discontinue correspondence with "HER"

Why would a 29 year old want a 79 year old that could be her grandfather? She might be the next Anna Nicole Smith, and she just wants stuff from him. Ask him why a 29 year old would want a 79 year old, that might spark something to change his mind.

Honestly, I'm goin through something similar.
My Dad is 70yrs old still married but doesn't come home anymore, after met this 35yr old.
My dad is very sick (heart disease, cancer, diabetes). This woman takes care of him.
I hate her, why?
1: because she is ugly
2: because she disrespects my folks marriage
3: because I think she wants to get into the will.
But my father likes her and she takes care of him so there is really nothing I can do. But if she ends up in the will then she is messing with my inheiritance, and that is a no no.

It most probably is a scam. You can intervene and tell him that you will pay, l not him. Get him involved with local senior or Church groups, AC, etc. There are plenty of women65-80 that are well off and have their own assets and want comapny!!

The next thing will be for her to ask him
for money to buy airline tickets

She COULD be legit, you know. Your dad is an adult, and therefore has the right to make his own decisions. Let him find out for himself if she could make him happy or not. If you're that concerned, just tell him what you think, if he doesn't listen, then sit back and just be there for him should it not turn out for the best. Just support him, no matter what. :)

precise now your father is soft at residing house. putting him in a nursing residing house would kill him. As for the for, attempt supply him end result and not alot of meats. Or hire a house attendance to guard him. he's only attempting to hold directly to what he has; that he can call his very own.

I can see why you are upset. You need to stress to him how many scams go on daily on the internet. Chances are shes just using him for money, gifts, or to get into the USA. Good Luck!

well i think she might be using him to escape the life they have there. if you go into some of the sites you will find a large amount of girls from that country all trying to leave and find someone to marry them to get them into other countries. be very gentle with this. maybe find someone online who is more his age for him. 50s - 60s. find someone for him. there are sites for retired single ppl

Do you have access to his computer? Do you know her email addy? If so...then I would send her an email explaining things to her. And ask her to stop emailing your dad. Is your dad in good health? Does he have money? I would be very concerned if this is the case. Good luck to you!
