I bought and installed McAffe and it locked up my computer. I had to remove it a day or two after I installed it and never went back.
I had been using Norton before but this past year I've only used AVG, SpyBot, AdaWare but when I added Verizon, they had me remove it and use theirs.....now I've get viruses and grayware.
Yesterday I installed Norton Security Suite 2006 and now my machine is creeping and crawling very slow and don't know what to do to speed it up.
I can click on start, go to programs, and it'll take a minute for programs to open up.....Help me.
P.S. In 2004 I used Norton Antivirus and never had a problem with viruses or spyware.
I think the Security Suite 2006 must be a resource hog.

I advise which you purchase the McAfee AntiVirus product. It has a lot greater helpful factors than the Norton AntiVirus product. The Norton interface has fewer strategies and is wrongly designed. together as the McAfee interface provides a lot greater strategies to regulate the application. you need to acquire the trial variations from the McAfee and Norton information superhighway website and evaluate their helpful factors in the previous procuring the application

Depends on what OS and software you run currently. honestly, I would run some spyware programs at will and invest in a good firewall, instead.
If you're going to upgrade to or have Vista, I wouldn't install either one.
