Well I am 76 yrs. old and found many noises in my house.
I came hone one night and the wife was scared this noise was very loud. We lived in a small town and Halibertin was about 1/2 block away. It was caused by them using a high pressure machine to wash their trucks . When they would pressure it up it would viberaate the water pipe against a bore under the sink. Was to put a sponge between the board and pipe.
Have recently moved and this old house we had several squirrels out side . Thought they were getting in the roof and playing up there. Later found some Rats that was so big there tale was 6 in. long After poising and trapping got red of the ghost.

First check that your "visitors" are not four-footed friends..There are several small animals that love to nest in rafters, under eaves or underneath the bases of wooden houses... In my daughters house we have often heard little rodents such as a field mouse and/or a dormouse running over our heads... Her husband puts traps out every so often to keep them from becoming a plague.
Some birds also nest under roofs (if they can find a place to enter even ones as big as owls, these are nightbirds and make a good amount of noise).
As do small bats...and even some bees and wasps.
Have an expert in "plague control" come and take a look...
Once you have the experts appraisal...
AND if he hasn't found anything...
Call in Ghostbusters or an exorcist!...
But I doubt that you will have to go that far!
(Check the heating and plumbing also)...
There is usually a very logical explanation for those things that make our minds think of the strangest answers! ;-D

Ghosts are spirits and they seldom harm anyone. However, you could possibly have a spirit trying to contact you for some reason. Think about someone that you knew that might have died recently. Then if you really want to know if it's a spirit, the next time you hear the knocking, say:
Thank you for trying to contact me, but I'd rather not hear from you again.
OR, if you wish to converse with the spirit, you might ask for a definite knock response, like:
Please knock once for yes, twice for no.
If it is a spirit needing to contact you, you could then ask questions and get responses.

I would guess that (if you have no spirit or ghost trying to contact you) your house may have pipes that knock when the water changes temperature.

As for someone entering your house, keep your locks on and stop worrying.

If you believe in God, angels and the like, ask God to protect you. Ask for God's good angels to protect you during the night, and thank God for that love and protection, and acknowledge that you take it with thanks and love to God in return.

Sleep well in that knowing.

i'd think of it became a ghost or somebody breaking in. If it persevered and "specific" "breaking in" sounds befell, i'd truthfully arise and look at, and tell whoever is accessible what I heard. in spite of the undeniable fact that if it became a ghost.. what's there to look at? i'd only tell my little brother if he hear that, what he thinks that's, you comprehend, to get some reassurance. Then i'd only pray for it to pass away and conceal below the covers.

Check your plumbing. Air becomes trapped in the pipes and if you don't have pressure release devices the air will slam against the pipe's wall

you should have a paranormal person come out and bring some devices to detect them so you can be sure. and just check all your doors and window locks before you go to bed at night so you can be 100% sure it's not a burglar.

are we related???
