you are right to intervene and worry. im 5'2 and when i was 18 i weighed 88 lbs and still thought i was fat. i hardly ate and whatever i did eat i threw up. my friends went to the school guidance counselor and told her...i was furious! but you have to do the same thing. shes so young and her body is still growing. she is missing needed nutrients and it could get so bad she could stop getting her period, start losing her hair, faint or even die. i didnt gain the weight back until i went to college and gained the freshman 15 putting me at a normal weight. its a psychological thing too. maybe talk to her first....find out why shes not eating. it could be the media always emphasizing skinny is better or it could be problems at home or with a boy and she is seeking attention in a very detrimental way. but as soon as possible tell someone close to you or her. you need to get her help quickly before something serious happens. you will be doing the right thing.

I know what you mean! 70 pounds for a 5'2 girl is unhealthy. If you only noticed this recently, there is still time to help her. Immedioutly go see a guidance counciller. I had to do the same thing when my best friend became buliemic. Its not a good feeling. Anorexic is when she rarely eats, but keeps it down. I think your friend may have bulimia and anorexia. The vomiting after she eats is related to bulimea. When I had the same problem I also read some Chicken Soup for the Teenage soul books with brave teens who save their friends lives. Good Luck!

She may be anorexic as well as bulimic. She's way too skinny for a girl her age and height, and if she still thinks she's fat, then she really must have a problem. Have her parents noticed? It seems like they would. You should go to them and tell them what you've seen and heard her do and say, and that you're worried about her. She might be mad at you for a while, but it is your obligation to your friend to get adults involved and get her the help she needs. You're a good friend. Go talk to her parents!

Anorexia and bulimia can kill. You have an obligation to your friend to tell a trusted adult (parent, teacher or guidance counselor) as soon as possible so that she can get help. Please do not put this off. Tell someone quickly. This is something that can be fatal, and you cannot handle this yourself.
Your friend may be angry at you for a while, but living with the idea that she died because you did nothing would be beyond torture.
Please tell someone!

I think she may well be! You need to tell someone about her, a teacher or school counsellor, someone that can help.
I don't want to scare you or your friend, but in the last 3 months, two models have died, due to Anorexia. People don't always realise just how serious it can be.
I hope your friend can get the help she needs, you are a great friend to be so supportive and caring. Take care : )

I think your best bet would be to confront her about it, but let her know you're only concerned out of love, and you're in no way accusing or attacking her. If she's not hiding anything, you'll find she'll be very calm about the confrontation, if she gets offensive, she's trying to hide something and you'll probably need to seek medical attention.

5'2", 70 lbs.
Her BMI score is: 12.8
A BMI score of less than 18.5 indicates you are underweight. You may wish to consult with your healthcare professional or nutritionist to discuss whether any health risks are associated with being underweight.
You need her to get professional help and tell her parents. anorexia is a disease you can't control by yourself and it can kill you

Holy cow.....YES, she is WAY too thin. Here's a height/weight chart: http://www.healthchecksystems.com/heightweightchart.htm
You HAVE to tell her parents. Of course, they should know there is something horribly wrong with her anyway. Also, tell YOUR parents. She needs help before she dies. And if she doesn't get help soon, she WILL die.
