Depends on the concentration of salt. Osmosis is the tendency of water to flow from an area of lower concentration of a solute (a solute is a particle dissolved in water....salt is an example of a solute) to an area of higher concentration.
An amoeba is encased in a membrane. That membrane can block the flow of water across it. If water flows out of the amoeba, it shrinks, crinkles up and dies. That state is called crenation.
However, an amoeba is also a living organism. That membrane doesn't always allow water to pass through it. The amoeba can control whether or not and how much water can pass through it. This is called being selectively permeable. The cells of living organisms have selectively permeable membranes. This property is one of the major mechanisms by which cells get things done.
There are limits, however. An amoeba is not going to crenate and die just because the water is a little bit more salty than it is. It can prevent its water from rushing out. There are limits to this ability though. A strongly concentrated salt solution will overwhelm this ability and kill the amoeba.
Some organisms can tolerate this to a FAR stronger degree. For example. Staph bacteria (the type that usually causes skin infections and often respiratory infections) is very resistant to this and can live under very salty conditions....even thrive in them.

If the salt water is of a significantly higher concentraion than inside the amobea water will flow out of the cell (cells can cope with a bit of difference as they can actively transport small molecules through the membrane against a gradient). The water moves out due to the tendancy to move from an area of high to an area of low concentraion (entropy). As water is essential to the biochemistry of cells the amoeba will shrivel and eventually die.

Ummmm......use your darn science book....you got one at the beginning of the year....if you still don't understand it, there's something called a science teacher that you see everyday when you go to school. If you don't figure it out on your own, you'll never make it to the 9th grade!

That thing with a front and back cover, and pages with words all over them, is your textbook. Brush off the dust, pry it open with the jaws of life, and see if you don't manage to learn a little something.

This is the reason the people in this country are getting more and more stupid. No one wants to think on their own, they just wish that someone else would do it for them.

Stop cheating and do your own homework. It is one thing to ask a question to get you started but quite another to not even try to think for yourself.
