I don't know of anything immediate, but I could offer you this from our experiences. We have used this remedy with phenomenal long term success. My husband rarely gets migraines anymore. They used to partially blind and nauseate him. We saw neurologists, etc.

I found this really easy information from a slew of holistic books:

. Eat plenty of turkey or chicken for the typtophan.
. Take vitamin B complex for the folic acid.
. Add rosemary or thyme 3 - 4 times a week to your menu preparations.

The combination works. We are amazed.

Good luck.

Edit: Whoops, I meant niacin not folic acid, both of which you will get in a B complex vitamin.

Unlikely the problem is Subway GENERALLY, though this specific time someone might have inadvertently put something in your sandwich which you have an allergic reaction to. For instance, you might have a food allergy to, say, cucumbers, and a bit of cucumber ended up in your sandwich. The vomitting is a usually a side effect of the migraine (or perhaps medicine you took to try to get rid of the pain). It could actually be part of an allergic reaction to the food but that is rarer. Generally, the migraine reaction to food allergies isn't huge the first time you have it. Do you have other allergies? Do you get Migraines for other reasons? Also, how do you know it was a Migraine and not just a bad headache? Did you have an aura? There are lots of other headache causes including stress and (though the medical community has no definitive numbers on this) low pressure weather fronts. Do you get other sorts of headaches?

I get migraines all the time. Tell her to drink a large glass of water and to stay in a dark room for a bit. A cold compress on the back of the neck helps too.

There is also something in chocolate that helps reduce a migraine so get her a chocolate bar and wait it out.

The water helps to increase the joint spacing and reduce the pressure on the nerves that are causing the pain.

I have chocolate bars on hand just for migraines.

Being nice to your mother is always a good place to start - although migraine headaches are no laughing matter. It would help to know her medical and headache history, the medications she is taken and those that she has taken for this headache. Once a migraine is well established - other than prescription medications - the only intervention is to place her in a cool quiet room with the lights out and a cool to cold pack on the face or forehead. Falling asleep is a good sign.

Like everyone else said, cool, dark quiet area - but what I would like to add is if she hasn't suffered from migraines before you might want to get her checked out by a doctor to make sure that's really what it is, and not something more serious. It could be a sinus infection or any number of other things that need medical attention. I hope she feels better soon!

She needs to go see a doctor to get the right medications. Tylenol and aspirin are not going to help w/ a migraine. She also can lay down in a dark room and relax. Good luck!

I sympathize with your mother. Really the only thing you can do is be as quite as possible, make her lie down and try and keep whatever room she is in cool and dark. If she hasn't taken anything for it yet see if she can take some aspirin, not only will this help with pain but if their is any swelling because of pain it will reduce this as well. Also try and get her to drink an 8 to 12 ounce glass of cool water with whatever medicine she takes. Really the most important thing though is a cool, dark, quite place and patience. If she is lucky she will be able to fall asleep despite the pain.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information
