Well, I have something that is super simple but works really good for a cocktail party. We have this chain of stores out here (in So-Cal) called "Smart & Final". What they are is a restaurant supply - but any restaurant supply will do. And, they sell these gigantic cans of chili (ya know, Chili con Carne and Chili with or without beans - you get the picture). Anyways, I'd get probably about 2 of those for 15 people and put a can of it at a time in a crockpot and get that heated up before the guest get there. And then I put some condiments out of whatever sounds good on chili. Onions, cheese, sour cream, tortilla chips, oyster crackers, chiles, and so on. Those big cans of chili run $7 to $10 each can and about $10 in condiments. And I make some killer cornbread (or cornbread muffins). There's a good mix from El Torito Restaurant that's sold in the grocery stores (it calls for a can of creamed corn) but whatever you like. Cost: Probably less than $10. Then, I have a tray of cut up veggies and some cut up fresh fruit. Cost: Probably $10/each tray if you get them ready made - less if you cut the stuff up yourself. And cheesecake. If you're not much on baking, get those ready-made graham cracker crust pie shells in the baking supplies isle at the grocery store and Philadelphia cream cheese makes a tub of their cheesecake filling (where the cream cheese is located). You could also get those individual graham cracker crusts. And get a can (or a couple) of pie filling (also in baking isle) and make some cheesecakes plain and with different fruit toppings. Cost: Probably about $20 total for everything. So, I think you could do this food for $80 or less. That would leave you about $40 for liquor. Sangria is red wine and cut up fresh citrus. If you have a Trader Joe's, they have that Two Buck Chucks (aka Charles Shaw wine) and so you get a few of those, cut up some oranges, lemons, & limes - do about $10 of sangria. Then, you have $30 left. Go hit some good sales on some beers - it's Memorial Weekend so there should be some good sales on beer - I hear Fresh & Easy has some microbewery that has 12 bottles for, I think I heard $6. And lastly, some jello shooters. A big bottle of whatever Vodka is on sale - does not have to be the good stuff. Get a few different flavors of jello and it's one pack of jello, the amount of hot water as stated on the box and the cold water is replaced by using the Vodka. The restaurant supply that sells the cans of chili has different individual shot-glass sized disposable "cups". Who doesn't have fun have some jello shooters? All this work can be done way before your guest arrive and then you just put it out and you won't have to do a bunch of work - you can enjoy your party. Good luck - have a great Memorial Weekend!

Sangria. I make mine with a 1 gallon jug of red wine, 1/2 bottle of white rum, 1/2 container of orange juice, 1 cup sugar, and tons of sliced fruits. People get pretty loopy, pretty fast on this stuff, because nobody tastes the rum. It always turns a gathering into a party! Plus, it's cheap, cheap, cheap and looks great in a punch bowl.

I suggest LAMBARINI. The packaging it plain, simple, but elegant. The stuff tastes alright, a bit sweet, and best of all cheap.

Its a girls' drink apparently if the website name is anyting to go by, but that doesnt stop me...

Why not set up a punch bowl with your favorite fruit punch mix, and add rum and vodka and ice for the kick. Lotsa fun.

Wine is good for a big party.

If you want cocktails, Stoli Peach Vodka and 7up is good.
