I have recently found out that eating and drinking dairy products maybe making my psoriasis and depression worse and I have decided to cut them out, could you suggest some alternatives for me, like cheese and yoghurts, I shop at Tescos and only managed to find 1 cheese that was dairy free, it tasted of cold chips as its made from potato starch, I think because its a lot different from cows milk cheese I need to get used to it. I would be grateful of your recommendations! Please only reply if you are genuine!! Thanks in advance x

My son has a dairy allergy and can eat nothing with milk or milk proteins in it. we do a lot of soy; ice cream, yogurt, milk, margarine. We also use a lot of tofu based products. we use tofutti cheese, sour cream, and cream cheese. Also we like the rice milk ice cream. we shop at a Health food store called Better Health here in Michigan and we are able to find a lot of stuff there. You have to be careful though. If you truly believe the dairy is the cause you may want to read labels if just cutting out the dairy aisle products doesn't work. Milk or Casein: the milk protein is in a lot of stuff. By the way the dairy makes my sons eczema flare up, so I know how itchy it must make you.

I can highly recomend the soya milk and yogurts from Provamel: http://www.alprosoya.co.uk/homepage/_en-UK/index.html
You will find them in Tescos. Vegan cheeses are an aquired taste. You might really enjoy a brand of dairy free cream cheese called Toffuti which can be bought in Holland & Barrett health food shops.

Non-dairy cheese? Isn't that a bit like Non-coco chocolate? or non-poultry eggs.... Oh it's made from potato starch you say? sounds irresistable. I'm sorry to hear about your condition by the way, seriously though maybe best to leave cheese out all together.

Swedish Glace ( http://ingmanglass.se/ ) alternative to dairy is delicious.
Try the Yofu yogurt and the best cheese is called Cheezly.
Most of these are not in the supermarkets, go to your local health-food shop

You might have to get some things from Waitrose or Ocado.com delivery.
They do some good dairy-free products - Swedish ice-cream made of soya etc You can't tell the difference!
There is a fantastic site see link:

My favourite alternative to cheese is avocado, works really well on top of pasta and pizza. The soya cheese I've tried has all been rubbish.

i apologise if you dont live in london-
there is a chain of health-food shops called "fresh and wild"
branches are in notting hill, camden, stoke newington that i know offhand
they have a really big range of foods for people with alergies and access to naturopaths ,homeopaths etc who can advise on how to support your body nutritionally when you have attacks of either ailment,
failing that most big towns have a good healthfood shop who have alternative healthcarers links
good luck, most of the people who have problems like psoriasis and depression that i know of have found changing their whole lifestyle -especially nutritionally -has made a huge difference to their outer and inner health

You might try goat cheese and milk--totally different products, which you may be able to tolerate.
