Don't see the correlation between Sloppy Joe's and Egypt, but..

I have one that we always called Onion Burgers. 1 lb. of ground beef (we use ground round) which you brown well. Then you drain off the fat. I also rinse it in hot water and drain well to get rid of more fat. Doesn't change the taste at all. Add an undiluted can of (Campbell's) French onion soup and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Serve on buttered buns. Better if made the day before so the flavors can blend. I have also tried the Chicken Gumbo soup recipe but there are tomatoes in the soup. It's very yummy. There are spices in that soup that add some zip to the concoction.

SLOPPY JOES

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 onions, chopped
4 ribs celery, chopped
1 jalapeño pepper, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
6 cloves crushed garlic
2 pounds ground beef
1 cup tomato sauce
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
6 hamburger buns, toasted

Heat oil in large frying pan over medium heat. When oil is hot, add the onion, celery, jalapeño, and bell pepper. Cook until soft. Add the garlic and continue cooking for 3 or 4 minutes.
Increase heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook meat until browned (about 10 to 12 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.

Lower heat back to medium and add the tomato sauce, paste, ketchup, Tabasco, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook, stirring, until the liquid is reduced and the mixture is thick (15 to 30 minutes).

Season with salt and pepper and serve on toasted hamburger buns

Makes 6 servings.

Here is a really simple and good one that me and my whole family enjoy.

1 lb. Ground chuck
1 can Campbell's Tomato soup
! sm. Onion (diced fine)-optional
1 sm. Green pepper (diced fine)-optional
2 tsp. Mustard (not dry)
Buns

Fry the ground chuck, onion and green pepper until the ground chuck is no longer pink. Drain.
Add the Tomato soup and mustard and stir well. Let simmer until nice and thick, about 23-30 minutes stirring occasionally.
Serve on the buns or in a bowl with the buns nearby so everyone can fix their own.
