I made a lemon layer cake and between the layers put in lemon curd for an further punch of lemon style. you may purchase this on the food market- in a unmarried of mine it is contained in the baking isle and in the different it is with the jams. Lime curd would also artwork nicely right here for an further citrus punch. Then to relax it off/lighten the flavors and make constructive it did not get too sweet, I made hand-crafted whipped cream from heavy cream- sweetened cool whip would i imagine be too a lot. I further lemon zest, a million tablespoon of powdered sugar and a million packet of unflavored gelatin in step with cup of whipping cream to stablize it (it kept contained in the refrigerator tremendous for 3 days after- in case you bypass the geletin the whip cream will commence to break down and the cake gained't very last yet an afternoon). I used this on the great and aspects of the layer cake.

It is a tricky recipe to find because most just tack it to the bottom of the recipe, but here it is:
For cream cheese frosting, combine 3 ounces of softened cream cheese with 2 tablespoons butter and 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar (1 teaspoon flavor of choice or 1/2 to 1 teaspoon lemon or orange zest). Beat well and add 1-2 tablespoons of cream until frosting is soft and spoonable. Spoon over cooled cake.

another good glaze is use a half cup of powdered sugar and add fresh lemon juice a little at a time -- Stir it and it will turn into a drippy yummy glaze for cakes and scones.
