If your parents are mentally ill doesn't that mean you have (through nature) inherited a certain predisposition through your genes (nature) that is manifest in your sick parent's ability to nurture (their own inherited nature)?

The current mainstream scientific thinking:
Of course, how your parents make you, how you are brought up, what your issues arise from -- which is all nurture for you -- is in their genes. So, the mentally ill do become so through nurture, but that cannot be called inheriting. Only if a person who inherited mentally insane genes and was adopted and brought up by parents who are mentally sane, would that person have inherited insanity. If insane parents bring you up, it is both nature and nurture working, but not nurture through nature. Nurture, of course, can alone make you mentally insane too. If a person born to completely mentally sane people is removed from them, and abused and traumatized, this person becomes insane mentally, but through nurture. Bottom line, nature and nurture both matter, but are separate.
Now, however, there is a small trend developing in research to suggest that medication and treatment can alter your genes. Therefore, nurturing the parent pool, may affect the nature of the next generation. Fascinating, I think.

Nature is something carnel. Nuture is action taken. Men are likely to lean toward nature and women are nutures. They both have to occur along with enviroment for a persons personality to develop including mental health.
