I think my dad makes 9,000 dollars teaching part time at a college, but otherwise he has no income besides benefits from the job he retired from.

How will this affect my financial aid?

I recommend him checking with the college he teaches with to see if they have a benefit for their children to attend. Some colleges do depending on the number of hours worked, and it is a really good benefit. Also, it should help probably with the FAFSA.ed.gov and other need based financial assistance from the federal government and the college itself. The state also has grants for college students which can be located by searching your state government website. If you are in high school, check the guidance office for its list of local scholarships. I have listed a few other resources. Good luck!

If you are a depended student when applying for financial aid (through FAFAS), besides your income (you may not have) you will be required to give your parents and supporters' income. The more money your parents and you have, the limit of financial aid you can get.

If you're indepent sudent, the answer will be no, only your income.
