Umm...I go almost everywhere barefoot because it is more comfortable but I don't walk around in stores because if you think about it, thousands of people have walked there and every single germ on the dirty floor are getting on your feet. Who knows what could get into a random scratch.
And I don't know anyone who looks down on it. Its odd, admittedly, because you don't see it everyday but it would be stupid to look down on it.

I think it's a health issue. Maybe your feet are clean but there are some people who have dirty feet crawling with bacteria and fungus. I would not look down on someone who is barefoot in a store that's the store owner or managers job to decide if it is appropriate or not.

Its not that your looked down on but do you the stuff that ends up on the street? do you even know what your stepping on? Its really gross. I wouldn't walk around barefoot. What if you step on a drug needle? do you know how many people must spit on the street? I don't look down on people who walk around barefoot but I do think their crazy for doing it.
Even if you only walk barefoot in stores, whatever is outside ends up under people's shoes and drags it in with them.
Be Careful!!

i dont look down on em, i find them very unique. how could they go home and go to bed with those feet and then the inside of their car. What happen when these ppl go to public restrooms, the floors in public bathrooms are not clean....All I wonder is could I buy a pair of shoes for them just to give it a try. I just dont see the logic, behind it.

It is dirty thats why. I wouldnt dare walk around barefoot outside in my neighborhood because there are syringes around and dirt and glass. And they probablly look at you that way because its white trash an stupid and most places dont even allow you to be inside their business without shoes because if you injure your feet there then you can sue them.

i don't think it's quite polite, plus it can be dangerous: you are walking barefooted in a world where everyone has shoes or trainers.
you can have accidents, walking in something sharp or something hot or... you get the picture.
anyway, I wouldn't go barefoot except for the seaside and my house.

its illegal in some public places like walmart and restaurants. as for parks, its fine. i wouldnt say i look down on people who walk barefoot, just if you come on property you better have shoes on cuz if you cut your foot, i dont need a lawsuit. enough said.

It is really gross to walk around without shoes, especially in Walmart. You know what kinds of disease are tracked around that place daily? EWWWW.
Plus you are probably the person who would step on something that sue walmart.

To be seen in public bare-footed (other than at a beach) is considered a sign of poverty and uncleanliness.
