I was reading a question about people being from the same 'Cast', as in a religious sense. I had never heard this term before. I'm not religious myself, but thought it odd that I have never heard of it before. What does it mean? what religions have it?

Are you referring to a caste? In Hinduism, a person's position in life is referred to as their caste and reflects their past life--if they are a king, a high caste. they must have done well in a past incarnation; if they are a gravedigger or a butcher, very low castes, they must have done badly. Official recognition of the caste system has now been outlawed in India, due to massive abuse and discrimination, but is still unoffically practiced in many areas.

in hinduism, they have "castes", which are basically social categories every person is born into and cannot move from. an "untouchable" is always an untouchable and can never move higher up. people generally cannot associate in many ways with people of lower castes.

is it cast or caste? I believe in India there is a caste system, it has to do with social levels. In Christianity, in the Bible when it uses cast, it means to throw.
