I am one of those people that would have problems swallowing large tablets. Also I do have gastric reflux and that too can feel like something is stck in your throat.
To be on the safe side you should go and speak with your GP, let him check you out and if this feeling of a lump persists for more than six weeks, you should return to your GP and ask for an ENT appointment. You may have swollen adenoids or infected tonsils irrespective of what is wrong, it pays to have it checked out.
BTW if you smoke you should make every effort to give up.

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT IS AND HOW TO FIX
Its now been discovered by new imaging techniques ! This is not a Spasm or because your a worry wart .
IT'S name is ....... LRP Reflux and its when Stumuch ACID washes back up your throat and splashes your VOCAL CORDS again, just some people have that loose track back to larynx.
50% of people with LRP will have heart burn
but 50% of people with LPR will not have any heartburn at all, no symptoms .
Because the contents do not stay in esophagus long enough, it
basically washes up into your throat and coat the vocal cords, and vocal
cords do not like ACID this causes the GOLF BALL feeling ... Ahhh im
chocking .. no just ACID on your cords .
This acid can come up asleep but also in seated position at dinner.
SO What CAN YOU DO ....... NO coffee NO wine and
get your doctor to prescribe
GENERIC NAME: pantoprazole
BRAND NAME: Protonix
take for 6- 12 months its a long treatment but if your vocal cords get splashed it will feel like a golf ball in throat .
also test may come back NEG from doctors and he will say something like its brought on with STRESS, doctor speak for we cant find this ?
This is because it just pops up and kisses your vocal cords and goes back down like a sniper ,
your doctor would have to be there when the acid decides to say Hi to your voice box.
Tell him you want to try Acid reduction meds for 1-2 years, ( note you will have to find one that works on your acid , so change brands if no relief in 1-2 months.)
even if he does the ph test and barium swallows and says no sign of acid reflux ? its not acid reflux
ITS LPR, its like wack em all it pops up and says hi does the damage and vanishes like its not there. Now your less stressed finally ! I know I was I thought i was going MAD. ENJOY.
HERE is a list of non acid and acid forming foods ... HINT you want non acid lol http://www.rense.com/1.mpicons...

Get it checked at docs.I have a friend who has some sort of pouch in her throat where things stick and another who has to get her gullet stretched from time to time.It could be any of a number of things that could be easily treated but it's better to get it checked.Could be your tonsils are swollen and just need an antibiotic.

They sound like symptoms of throat cancer: difficulty in swallowing, feeling of lump in throat. Don't mean to alarm you, it's just a thought but go check it out just to be sure. It could well be a pyschological thing too!

If it is near the jaw area, it could be a gland, which means you could be coming down with a cold. Be sure to make an appointment with your doctor just in case its an infection.

No - that happens to me. It's probably entirely psychological, even though it feels completely real. Believe me, if there were actually anything in your throat, you would be coughing at the very least.

Why don't you just chop your tablets up before taking them, if you continue swallowing the tablets it could cause tonsilitis.
