i was driving home last night from getting a ps3 and a cop pulled me over and said my license plate tag was expired. the ticket ended up being $179. my court date is november 29th.

if i get my tag renewed before then, will they reduce the $179? how will i show them proof that i did this?

do i have to go to court? or do i just tell the person i'm paying my ticket to that its renewed?

and its not a moving violation right?

Can't answer all your questions, since I don't know what state you are in. It would be a great idea to have the tag renewed prior to court. If you don't go to court you are pleading guilty anyway. The judge can do what he/she wants with your fine. It may depend on how long your tag was expired anyway. You can show the court proof by bringing in your current registration. And finally, if you can afford a new PS3, you can afford the cost of the ticket.

I just got a ticket an hour ago for the same thing here in tennessee at a sobriety check point(road block). They where the most unorganized bunch of idiots I have ever seen... First an officer said "oOo we hat a tag...", then another officer said to pull behind a car(the only car) and when I did he said "not behind that car now your blocking traffic!"(trying to make it out that I was the dumb one) so I said "well which car do you want me to park behind???" next I had 4 officers come to my car seperatly and ask for my drivers licence and registration. The first asked and I handed him my drivers licence and searched for my registration, the second came and asked for it all again, and I said someone already took my licence but heres my registration. then he asked who took it, and I said I have no idea(they where all wearing orange vests. so he said ok thats not a problem....

Then two more people came and asked, and 15 minutes later another officer came back with my ticket, asked me to sign without explaining what the ticket was for. then tried to explain what I did, when he discovered that the officer that actually wrote the ticket wrote that my court date is in 2003... 2003???? wow.

and also the officer is supposed to write the amount of the fine on the back of the ticket and check weather I can mail it in or if I have to be in court he checked neither....Im going to call and complain.

Finally after all this mess I have a court date in March of next year. thats five months... they must be writing a lot of tickets to fill up 5 months worth of court dates.

What do you think?

you should show the car registration to the judge. You should get the registration done right away. The form they send you will be dated, as will your ticket. The judge will notice that the date on the ticket is earlier than the date on the registation notice, but since you got it done, you might get be able get the fine reduced.
