Does boiling the water really make it drinkable/usable?
What should be done if you drink it and end up with diarrhea?

I am in Nanaimo and have the same ban

You can shower and do laundry and wash dishes - just don't drink it.

Don't worry about it want hurt u even if it taste a little strange, that is because most of the air has been flashed off. U can use Clorox ,2 tablespoon in a gallon. and to reduce the smell boil it a little. U can use some pretty dirty water and bring it to a fast boil, look for a scum to form on top of it. skim it off and put in some coffee it will be good, Get some Halizon tablets the military uses that for combat solders.
WE lived in Ecuador for 12 years and we had to wash out food and vegetables in the Clorox water.
Also if u can get it ocean water is good to cook food in just don't put salt in it.
