I bought it Sunday, it's now Friday. That's 5 days, will I get sick and die?

What color is it? If it is dark brown, I would throw it out. As a mater of fact, to be on the safe side THROW IT OUT!!! Go get some more and this time don't let it sit in the frig longer than a day.

Ground beef has already gone through a process that has imparted a certain amount of heat to it during the grinding so leaving it in a fridge for several days gives any bacteria a chance to multiply ground beef should ideally be eaten on the day of purchase.

Oh boy. That is too long. Does it have a smell or has it changed color (darkened)? Definitely throw it out if so. If it smells ok and is still pink you can try it. It probably has at least changed color by now. Fresh meat is not usually good more than 2 days in the frig. If it was raw and seasoned it will last a little longer. You're taking your chances.

Yuck - when you buy beef your not going to eat you should put it in the freezer until your ready for it. It might be ok if you cook it today but I wouldn't eat it after today. Has it changed colors yet?

The american meat institute lists refrigeration time at one to two days so even if you pushed that limit five days is a bit much.

There should be an expiration date on the package somewhere, find that and you'll know if it's still o.k.
