For a Christmas present

From a hairstylist's perspective, any gift is appreciated! If you go in for services every week (like for a weekly set) I would say 10 - 20 dollars at most. If you only go once every 6 months a smaller gift would work fine. If you would like some ideas of things that all hairdressers can use..... lotion for our hands which stay really dry from all the water, especially in the winter. I also use lots of hand sanitizer. Try to think of something personal (small piece of jewerly, comfy house slippers for tired feet....) rather than things to put in the salon. If you buy something for the stylist to "display" on her station or in the salon she feels obligated to do so, and if 100 people buy similar things there just isn't enough room and someone will have hurt feelings! I hope that helps without giving an information overload.

I think $10 is appropriate. Some ideas are: small jar candles, journals, desk calendars, gift card to coffee shop, photo frames (my hairstylist uses these to hold special offers each month), a cd (you can make this with holiday songs), or those jar with ingredients to make cookies.

often people give a large tip during the holidays, or bring a gift....
any heartfelt gift is appreciated....i've recieved wine, baked goods, christmas ornaments, candles, candies, money, jewelry, home-made gifts, etc.....the dollar amount i would say would depend on your budget and your relationship with your stylist....the only things i would really avoid are hairstyling tools or products (as a hairdresser has his/her own favorite tools/products already) and trinkets for his/her station (world's best hairdresser plaques, figurines etc.) as most hairdressers have enough junk at their stations already and don't want to feel obligated to display your trinket....
....i think the best gift i ever got from a client was a gift certificate to a different salon for a pedicure....tho our salon offers pedicures, we never have time to get our toes done, and it was nice and relaxing to go have it done at a different salon where i was just a client

I don't think you should worry so much about the gift or the cost...I think your hairstylist will be appreciative of your thoughtfulness...even if it is just a card!

I would imagine double or triple what usually pay her when you go to your hairstylist. Consult Emily Post's website or Leticia Baldridge's website.

I spend $10-15.....just a token of appreciation. Nothing too big or it's weird.

$10-20 depends on how well you know her/him. $10-15 if you only see them when they cut your hair.
