I recently got my concealed hang gun permit and own a desert eagle. I was wondering which would be the best place to holster it? Hip, chest, ankle, other? What would fellow hand gun owners recomend?

That handgun is very heavy for everyday carry. You might consider buying another handgun for every day carry.

I carry a H&K USP full size, 24 hours a day/7 days a week. I usually carry it in a side holster (strong hand draw) or in a fanny pack. I like to have my weapon available ASAP when it is needed. Therefore, I carry my weapon attached somewhere to my waist. On special occasions, I have placed it inside a soft briefcase (which has a shoulder strap and it never left my hand).

Ankle holsters are usually for backups only. Unless you have a good holster, it can fall off when you are running. They are also notoriously difficult to draw from in a standing position.
Shoulder holsters are okay, but, you need space to complete the draw. The other problem is that it is just as accessible to the shootee as it is to the shooter.

Remember, in a normal situation, you will be playing catchup. The bad guy will either already be reaching for his weapon OR already have it displayed. You need to be able to bring the weapon into play ASAP. That is why, regardless of holster/location, you must practice, practice, practice, practice.

Easiet access for a large frame handgun like the Desert Eagle would be a chest holster, but of course, a bit difficult to conceal. I have a Ruger .480 Super Redhawk that I tried to carry in a shoulder holster, but to draw it took some time and some interesting movements. Now I've just taken to a hip holster, and quit trying to conceal it.

Cross draw chest holster or same side draw hip holster. Unless you're a giant, the Desert Eagle is way too large to carry on your ankle. Besides, the weight of the gun would constantly beat on your ankle bone and it would cause much discomfort.

In general I prefer hip or shoulder holsters, depending on the size of the weapon.
For something as large as a DE, if you want it concealed you'll probably have to use a shoulder holster for casual carry. If you can carry non-concealed, I'd actually recommend a thigh-holster for something as large as a DE.

I'm not sure what state you are in, different states have a wide variety of different carry laws. I know that many states have a "brandishment" law which prohibits non-concealed carry except by law enforcement and uniformed security officers.

I would recommend the place that is easiest to access for you.
I carry on my hip because it's the easest and fastest place to reach for, however, unless you are wearing a jacket, sweater or long shirt, it's visible. A lot of guys I know like the ankle holster, but that depends on the size of gun, and the caliber.
I don't like the shoulder holster as I find it tends to be uncomfortable, plus you have to wear a jacket.
There are also pocket holsters, for the front pocket of your pants, but these require some what baggy pants, and a small hand gun.

you're saying, "under there," yet in undemanding terms 2 statutes are shown. No hid carry statute? So whatcha talkin' 'bout? The criminal essence of "hid" is hid, no longer whether in a holster or no longer in a holster. There are, after all, hid carry holsters. additionally, there are hid carry instructions, often pronounced as gun secure practices instructions, the place the state regulation is taught, everywhere, much less high priced. could be you may desire to attend one. Oh yeh--straightforward experience: Is a gun greater threatening to different persons whilst it fairly is sitting in a cop-type retention holster, or whilst it fairly is being hand carried, waiting for prompt use? i'm hoping you do no longer could desire to think of too long to make your mind up the respond.

A weapon that you can't get to has little use.

Image you have 4 seconds, or 10 seconds ( that is alot of time in a emergancy)

try the various places.

I went back to a belt holster for a smaler weapon, it is a zippered square and does not even look like a holster.

On duty officers use a chest holster in the vest or a ankle hoster.

First of all, if you have a desert eagle and can holster it on your ankle what the hell do you need a gun for? I would holster such a large weapon either in a shoulder type or on the hip.

check magills.com they show various types of concealment, then there's the smart carry, But that is for the cases when you absolutely need to be totally concealed and any other way wouldn't work. You know the old joke is that a banana in your pants-there is a holster to carry that way. There are pocket holsters also

I believe that the hip is the best place to carry it. It makes for the easiest access if you need to use it in an emergency situation. They are easier to put on than a chest holster for sure. The ankle is where I would keep my knife for backup. :)
