service pack 2 has almost all the hundred or so updates to sp1 included ... its a much easier install ... ther is also a few things included for compatibility with the latest hardware ... sp2 also includes a firewall and some other nuances that need to be disabled imo ... but overall sp2 is way better ... i held off for ages coz i was worried about it ... but was glad wen i finally switched ...

u need service pack 2 if you want to download any new updates. pretty much u need it to run ur computer. to get it go to ur start menu-programs-and at the top there is a windows update. click that and follow the steps. U NEED SERIVCE PACK 2
