What does your religion or belief system say on the subjects of: Evolution, Life after death, Homosexuality, Prayer, The origin of the universe, Other religions/belief systems?

Note: I am just wondering what you believe, not looking for a sermon or rant. Please be civil.

I believe in the Goddess and God, who are represented through multiple goddesses and gods because the actual Goddess and God are too huge for our human minds to comprehend. I really believe there has to be some sort of creative force behind everything, since nature is truly beautiful to behold and the energy of Goddess/God is in everything and can be tangibly felt. I am Wiccan.

Evolution: I don't think Wicca has a particular stance on evolution. It says the Goddess and God created everything and are in everything, but as for a specific creation "myth" that I hold to be true above all others there isn't one. That's because they're "myths" - the way we explain things that we can't otherwise explain. I think it's entirely valid that the Divine whipped up a soup that would continually evolve into what we have now, and will continue to evolve, but do I believe they plunked us down here fully formed? No. Where would be the natural beauty in that?

Life after death: is certain. There is a spiritual plane above this on which we exist after death. It's sort of a metaphysical locker room where you go to debrief between your lives, think about what you've learned, and decide when you want to come back down to work out what you didn't learn.

Homosexuality: only "bad" if it's causing harm to someone. I.e. if you've got homosexuals running around having multiple partners, not using protection and spreading disease, that is "bad". But it's just as "bad" for heterosexuals who run around having multiple partners, not using protection and spreading disease. If they're not harming anyone - and most of the gay people I know aren't - why are we discussing it? What people do in their bedrooms is not anyone else's business.

Prayer: we call it ritual or spellwork. It's a respectful communing with the Goddess/God to ask them for help with whatever is blocked in your life.

The origin of the universe: There was originally a Godhead. This Godhead split into the Goddess and God - a balance - and the Goddess and God created everything in the universe and on Earth. Therefore, there is masculine and feminine in all aspects of life. Some things have more feminine, some more masculine, but the aspects of both are in all. It is the balance of the masculine and feminine that creates the harmony and beauty of nature.

Other religions/belief systems: They're fine. We're all headed to the same place. The only thing that really matters is if we're harming others on the way to the same place. If your religion or members of your religion are harmful to others, then it is causing a problem and is not necessarily a "good" thing for humanity or nature.

Bright blessings!

I don't hold beliefs, as in things accepted as true, but having no supporting evidence. I hold no belief in a god or gods.

Being Buddhist, my religion says nothing about evolution, life after death (not in Zen, which is my school of Buddhism), homosexuality, prayer, or the origin of the universe. The only thing it says about other religions is that Buddhism and all the other religions are fingers pointing at the same moon.

Also I'm an atheist (see the part about holding no belief in a god(s)). I'm am, and have been for the past six years, working toward ordination as a Zen priest.

civil is my middle name.
here goes..........
1 god, Jehovah.
Jehovah is against false idols/gods and there is no other god, only Jehovah.
i have no ties 2 organised religion, god is everywhere. my beliefs r christian in principle.
u do not need 2 visit a particular building on a particular day 2 worship god. god is all around u & inside u. if u live an ethical life, obey all commandments & laws, ur worshiping god and he is satisfied.
i didn't pick religion, the religion picked me. hard 2 explain but the power of faith cancels all doubts.
evolution is a bunch of hocus-pocus, scientists have a tough time accepting the concept of God. why i'm not sure, but intent on disproving his existence is still under-construction.
there is no life after death. death is the final chapter. the dead cannot hear, speak or feel. we return 2 dust, whence we came.
homosexuality is wrong. it's not part of gods plan 2 populate the earth, is it? man shalt not lay with fellow man. buggery & sodomy is unclean and a sin against god. i dislike the act not the person.
everything that exists, exists because of Jehovah. created 4 a purpose and the bible clearly states anything/any1 turning away from god, will perish.
jehovah has his own agenda 4 non-believers it is not 4 me 2 judge or influence them.
PHEW!
i didn't rant or preach, did i?

I believe in God. I believe in the trinity of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I believe because I have researched it, and followed my heart, I have faith. I say I am a Christian, because I follow Christs teachings, but am not a member of any organized church or religious base.

Evolution: God created us, we dont decend from apes, or a common ancestor, and I believe we evolve and mutate.
Life After Death: Heaven or hell, one or the other.
Homosexuality: Its a sin, it is wrong, but God loves then anyway.
Prayer: Prayer is good for the soul. God answers ALL prayers, in his time, according to his will, and sometimes the answe is no.
Univers: God created it all , and the Bible supports much of what Science says about it.
Other beliefs: To be tolerant, to love everyone, to accept.

Hope that wasnt too long, tried to answer everything without ramblin on and on!

I believe in one God and Father of us all (including Jesus).
I believe Jesus proved that God, his Father sent him with all the miracles which he performed and I believe that the Bible is God's letter to us and it is what he teaches.
I am a Jehovah's Witness. I believe in Creation, not Evolution, Life after resurrection but not right after death unless the resurrection that you are part of has already begun (The first resurrection has begun but not the second), practicing Homosexuality is a sin but all people have some temptations which are stronger than others and we each must struggle with whichever ones are strongest for us, Prayer should be done constantly in one's own words--sincerely, Creation again as I said. Anything else you wonder about?? E-mail me.

I believe that there is one God, and that God is present in the world in, as, and through all things. I believe that life is God expressed. I believe that I am part and parcel with God. Even though I revere (not worship) one God, I separate that God into different entities, in order to better relate to the concept of a Creator. Perhaps today God will be a male, whom I would think of as Om, or Jah. Then tomorrow God would be female, and I would call Her Athena, or Diana. There is no life after death, because there is no death. It is all life, simply in different forms. I certainly pray, because it is useful to remind myself that there is Someone who knows all about my problems, and indeed has solved them for me even before I asked. Homosexuality is (or at least can be) an expression of love. I believe that God is Love. Therefore, to be against homosexuality (if it is used as a heartfelt expression of love) would be to be against God. The Universe has no definite origin, seeing as all times coexist together in the Ultimate sense. And finally, I am tolerant of other religions, because my God is tolerant. No, not just tolerant. My God is accepting.

I believe in God and I am Mormon. No, Mormons are not polygamists. They are a totally different group with a similar name. Anyway, this religion does not believe in evolution, does believe in life after death, does not encourage homosexuality, and prayer is very very important.

I believe what the bible says you have to be careful what man made religion teach. They should be in the holy spirit when they are preaching (revealing the word to you). The bible says there is life after death (in heaven), the bible is against homosexuality. I believe no man or woman will leave this earth without knowing that he/she must be saved to have enternal life.(believe in God and take him as their personnal Saviour)

I believe in a god who created the world and then left to create more, because that is what he does, he left his son here to govern, but in order to maintain his impartiality, he does not intervene in lives, except for the lives of his own children, I believe in saints--people who earned power and eternal life through acts of merit, but to reward those acts with a lifetime of servitude would be a punishment so the saints are replaced regularily with chosen people from all walks of life, therefore anybody in our daily lifes could become a saint--I'm santero

Hi, I don't proscribe to any one church or religion.I have my own little faith. There is something up there bigger than us to give us comfort in times of need, Answering questions or giving us more questions to mull over. As to morals and ethics, I try to follow societies rules but I also have my own mind and conscience and if I need them I use them. What ever you believe in I hope it gives you comfort and what you need.
