I would tell the clerk that you found some money, don't identify the amount, give them your phone number and have them pass it on to the person who lost it (if they come forward). That way you can be assured that the rightful person will claim the money. I worked in retail when I was younger and any money turned in was usually kept by the staff.

If it is loose money not in a billfold of any sort then keep it. If you find a purse, of course turn it in and you will sleep well knowing you did someone a huge favor by returning things more important than the money! Leave your name and number with the purse and you might just get rewarded!! ((been there done that))

I have found cash many times... If I turn it in, it will only go into the pocket of the person you turned it in to. And out on the street I will not go running around asking people if they dropped this so called cash!

relies upon on the quantity of the money, i think of. If that's a random wadded-up one dollar invoice that needless to say fell out of somebody's pocket, and there is not any one else in the aisle, specific, save it. If somebody else is nearby, ask out loud, "each physique lost this?" they'll seem around and understand the moeny whether that's theirs, yet whilst it is not they probable won't attempt to dispute your declare. If that's a twenty or bigger, tell the save supervisor which you got here upon some lost money, and which you will return it if the owner comes forth to seek for it on the lost and located. supply the administrative your telephone quantity so as that they could call you. regularly of thumb, you're able to make some attempt to locate the owner, and purely the actual proprietor will make any attempt to retrace and locate their money. So in case you do no longer meet in the midsection, the money is yours. for terribly great quantities, in the 1000's, touch the police. they have a definite technique wherein they'll carry the money for a definite quantity of time and then return it to you whether that's unclaimed.

Handing it in to the store risks the chance that the store worker may keep the money for themselves, rather than find the rightful owner.

Ideally you should attempt to find the owner. Perhaps ask the cashier whether any customers had said they'd lost the same amount of money.

If the rightful owner can not be found, give it to a worthwhile charity. Perhaps a local one. In that way, it benefits the maximum amount of people from one persons unfortunate loss.

What happened when I found fifty bucks is waited a couple of hours to see if anyone would claim it, no one came asking so I pocketed it. That was when I worked there.

If I was in a store that I didnt work in then I would not turn in a bill laying around because if no one claims it then the people who you turned it into are going to pocket it, or else the store is going to pocket it and thast not fair either. If they annouce "Can someone please come claim their money they lost" then your going to have tons of people trying to claim it. Id keep the money unless it was in a wallet.
If it were in a wallet I would turn it in to customer service because then at least you know who lost the money.

If you were to think about it. How many people would reply in you turning around and asking the entire store if someone had dropped a hundred dollar bill? I can gaurantee you will have twelve people running up saying that it is theres. My advice would be to keep it and go fill up your gas tank. GAS PRICES SUCK.

It's yours if no one comes to claim it. I'd stand there for about 10 minutes and if no one came around looking all over the floor, I'd pocket it. Unless it was a huge sum. In that case, I'd probably let the police know - NOT!

think about this
if its just loose money, how can a person claim it?
not everybody goes around memorizing their serial numbers on every bill they have
i agree if it is in a wallet or like a change purse, turn it in by all means because then the person could identify the wallet or change purse

It depends on the amount. If a sizable amount is found I would report it as found and not turn it in except to a person that contacted me w/a viable reason of where they lost it. If you turn it in, you have no idea who will end up w/it. even the person you turned it in to. It is a sad society out there!!!!!!!

Well it really just depends on what kind of person you are.. If you want to be a Jacka** then you can keep it but the right thing to do is to turn the money in!
What kind of question is this anyway because you just lost points for writing that stupid question.
