too quickly. I had tightness in my chest, couldn't catch my breath, became very warm & flushed. The nurses quickly reacted & got it under control but it was scary. Does this happen often & how should I prevent it from happening again? I haven't seen anyone around me go through this?

OH NO DO NOT GO THRU THIS EVER AGAIN, SPEAK UP AND MAKE SURE ALL STAFF IS AWARE OF WHAT HAD HAPPENED!!!! I dont know all that they did but do u have a port? If you do did they clean it. Flush it etc. very important, believe it or not, but not all nurses are all that familiar with the proper procedure some will flush a port and do it wrong!!! I BEG U TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR ASAP, We tend to just trust r nurses and drs. but really we need to be just as informed ask questions, read up on your condition and treatment, and do not accept anything but the best medical care and always SPEAK UP!! This is your life, dont be scared or shy to ask questions etc. u may seem like a pest but u will get the best care and that is all that matters.

You mean the same drug you were taking for second time and then u developed reactions.
If I am not mistaken the drug must be Paclitaxel, it is known to cause such reactions. Your doctor must have been informed of this. Ensure that. There are many premedications which can take care of the reactions, discuss with your doctor.
I dont know what cancer you are suffering from, but there are different chemotherapeutic agents and your doctor will be in the best position to tell u.

that was the nurses falt . Do you have a port in one side or the other? If you don`t have a port you need to get one put in. I still have mine and it was put in 4 years ago and was used again 3 months ago , not for cancer but for surgery. I had 28 weeks of Kemo and 29 days of radiation. good luck

Talk to your oncologist about what happened. He should be able to make sure you get someone qualified to give you your treatments.
