It shocks me to read some of the replies. I also have to say the nasty guy (i wont name any names but you know who you are) everyone wants to pick on may be rude and at times down right mean but, his answers are frequently on the ball.

Personally, I try to answer most in a serious manner. Sometimes it's difficult though given the ignorance of the asker.
I also like to read through to see other's answers. If you can look past the goofy answers, it's like a big brainstorming session, only you never know who's 100% right, if anyone. I like getting other people's ideas and thoughts.

Everyone is here for a different reason. I generally only ask questions when I really want people's serious answers. And I answer all of my questions seriously and I take care to be polite to anyone who presents a real question. A lot of people are on here because they are bored at work or home, and they probably get satisfaction out of making people angry or by asking ridiculous or inappropriate questions. And everyone has a different way of answering. Sometimes, a person might not say what they want to say in the nicest way, but they are often, like you said, on the ball.

I've seen a few rude answers, and yes, some of what they offer is true and correct. Problem is that, tho they were right, the fact that they couldn't be decent about it simply means they are wasting their own time participating. If you spend time giving a good answer and then also including insult to the person asking or other participants, you will not gain respect as being knowledgable (even tho you may be), but rather as someone who prefers to condascend everyone else to make themself feel better.
My opinion is that some folks on here just need to learn how to be tactful with their answers. If you really want to be taken seriously, then try to be sincerely helpful, rather than a jerk. I think these folks just get a kick out of creating waves.

Some people take this seriously, and some don't. A lot of people are actually asking for answers to their probelms, but then you have those few who are perverted or just think life is all fun and games.

I know what you mean, I think this site is 1/3 people who want to upset people (like my cats paw fell off what do I do?), 1/3 stupid pet owners (my cat ate poison what do I do?) and 1/3 people who accually want to know real stuff (like your question!) Sometimes it's fun to play along with some of the people and others it's fun to report them!

I think all yahoo's are in it for both. You have to keep in mind that if people have nothing better to do than sit on yahoo for 18 hours a day..their answers will tend to be a bit punchy since they are probably bored out of their mind and its probably their only friend and comical release during the day. I say..let them be...If the computer is all they have..let them enjoy it.

The vast majority do NOT want the TRUTH but only to have their preconcieved (IGNORANT!) notions reinforced & to be "cootchie-coo'd" by other equally ignorant twits.
"I just paid 93 gazillion dollars for this 25 lb.HYBRID 'Malarkey' ,so I can BREADED it with my cousin's nickel & a half POS PUGLET. I've been STUFFING it w/garlic & yeast & it STILL has FLEES!! It's also runs...well,WADDLES...away every time I turn it loose & BITES EVERYBODY & goes to the bathroom EVERYWHERE when we leave in un-attended ALL DAY LONG *&*....rips up all the DOGGIE-WOGGIE outfits I spent a THOUSAND dollars on!
So,when it gets it's first PERIOD,can my cousin's doggie MARRY it?? Somebody told me they get STUCK when they BREAD!!!EEEEWWWWWWWW..!

You can only handhold,coddle, and tell people what they want to hear for just so long.....then you realize it does no good. Sometimes people need a good old fashioned kick in the a**!!!!!!
What is the point to making people feel good about themselves when what they really need is someone to point out that they are doing the WRONG thing???????
If you want to be coddled and handheld, go watch Oprah and stop asking people for their opinions!!!
