I would guess that snake goes best with cheap nasty beer.
A snack, or appetizer, would depend also on the type of wine you are serving, the type of guests you are serving (family or business guests), and how much you are willing to spend.
Best idea is to check out a website such as www.Foodnetwork.com or www.foodtvnetwork.com (can't remember exactly the address). There will be party/dinner planning ideas there.
Have fun.

I mean you mean snack, don't you? I will tell you what I prepared last sundays'dinner: Mix roquefort cheese(125 grams) with 100 ml of milk cream so that results a fine cream. On the other hand make sticks(about 3 or 4 inches) of carrots. Now you can dip with these healthy sticks into the creamy and delicious cheese. With a good bottle of Spanish red wine(such as Rioja), you'll have a good time for sure!

i'd start up with a surprising cotton mouth sauteed in garlic butter. stick to that with copper head soup, served with a dollop of bitter cream. The entree would contain infant boa constrictor sluggish roasted till mushy (roast with onions and potatoes). for dessert i'd pass with an worry-free cobra cobbler crowned with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. all dishes would be served with a surprising fruity wine. get exhilaration from!

SNAKES??? How about prevacid as the side dish.
Snacks - cheese (really good ones), crackers (specialty ones), fresh fruit - try unusual ones, not just apples.
