Apparently nobody paid attention to your question regarding the highest proof "Whiskey"
Grain alcohol does not equal whiskey.
What you need to look for is a whisk(e)y that's labeled "Cask Strength." Whiskies are put into casks around 65-70% alcohol by volume (%ABV) which is 130-140 proof. Generally, whiskies are cut with water to 40-45% ABV before bottling, which is what you'll see mostly on the shelves. You have to go to a better liquor store that carries specialty spirits like vintage single malt Scotches and such.

Actually, 175 proof is pure alcohol in the UK, 200 proof in the US (different measuring conditions). Some vodkas go as high as 150 proof. Most whiskeys are in the 80-90 proof range. I have heard that whiskey can be as high as 120 proof, but the highest I have ever seen is 101 proof.

Common in the market, Whisky is 80 Proof, ie 40% alcohol.
There are other alcohols that are as high as190 Proof, it is Wormwood Whiskey from Italy. Wood alcohol causes blindness in human, I have see this product but I think name has no representation, it is not a wood product.
There is a Moonshine, the only legal kind that is call Lightening, it is also about 190 Proof.
You cannot maintain this level, as the product is unstable, it will evaporate, and absorb water from air and will be diluted on opening the bottle, this is because it has affinity for water.
Addy-500 cars use 100% alcohol in their car it can be drank, but by law it has some poison in it, so it is not for human consumption. It is transported in a special container, and very carefully loaded in the gas tank with people waring special equipment car tanks are equipt with special caps, it burns without flame, so once in a while the attendant start shouting and jumping and are soaked with flame retardants.
Some deserts are warmed up at the table in a restaurant by spraying alcohol and lighting it they are about 180 Proof.

Could be Wild Turkey at 101 proof. Typically, American whiskey ranges from 80-100 proof.
Some bourbons can peak out at 160 proof, but the taste is not that good. I like a nice smooth whiskey, just not that Jack Daniels crap.

Bacardi makes a rum that is 150 proof and Everclear is 190 proof and is the strongest stuff you can get and it is illegal in some areas. As to whisky like rye, bourbon, scotch, etc. the highest I have seen is 100 proof.

If you need a number, 125 is the upper limit for entry proof. 160 is the highest take off proof from the still. These are 2 specifications for Bourbon, among others.

The highest that I've ever seen is 190 proof which is about 95% alcohol. I don't think that you will be able to find anything like that on the legal market though, the only reason that I have encountered it is because my grandfather used to make it when he was still alive.
