I think 7 1/2 years old is too young for a perm (I know, I'm old skool...) Especially, since you mention her hair texture is starting to change.
But if you do opt for a perm, there are kiddie perms out there at the beauty supply stores. Also, a texturizer might be better as it *softens* the hair.

you really don't need to start adding chemicals to her hair yet... when i was around that age i begged my auntie to but a wave newveau on my head and it tore my **** up! but it eventually grew back out again. I didn't get my first relaxer until i was like 13 years old. but just keep it brushed, oiled, and pressed really good, and braided when she goes to bed... brushing will keep the texture from going you know... too nappy!!! i know it sounds like some work, but don't start too early on doing that to her hair.. try braids, and hot pressing it and i would do that and she will have long and healthy hair. it;s really better to get her hair relaxed when she is older because you can see when she gets older what kind of hair she's gonna have, and with flat irons and what not, there's more alternative than the hot comb or a relaxer...
but if you insist on putting a perm on that early, there's beautiful begginnings by dark and lovely, just for me, and pcj for kids... but i would rather deal with some kinky hair than a permed and damaged head....

do not change it. hair at that age 1.)is what they call virgin--untouched 2.) will change when hormones change so as she gets older her hair can curl, frizz up or get straighter depending on her genes and how her hormones work. perming a young girls hair is like cutting a babys arm off. it has to grow and mature. it will damage her hair badly...try rollers instead. it is best not to have anything permanent done to hair at any age because all of these treatments involve chemicals that can damage hair no matter how gentle or "herbal" they say it is. but, to answer your question and if she really has to do it then 16 would be a proper age because her body would have fully developed by then and at that age she gets more conscious about her appearance. try doing a conditioning or moisturizing treatment if her hair is starting to change avoiding harsh styling products, chemical treatments and hot styling devices. i hope i helped.

Think about the values that you are showing your 7 year old. Do you want to show her at such an early age that being pretty is so important. They get enough of that on tv. Let her be a kid for now, she doesn't have to look perfect all the time. pull her hair back in a pony tail on bad hair days.

its an acceptable age, but I don't think you should perm her hair (my personal opinion)...if you do..PLEASE make sure you watch over every move the hairdresser makes, and tell her exactly how you want the perm to come out before she starts

No You better use a hot comb. Don't perm her hair until she is at least 15 . By time she might might need a perm.

Don't perm her hair. We must learn to accept our textures. Press if you must.
