I posted this in the wrong age group before, sorry...

I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian but feeding my kids meat if they want it so I can not say I am a great cook with meats or fish of any kind but willing to try! Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for your help!

When your sweetie decides he/she is ready to try new foods, you'll know.

If I were you, I would give your child new foods at every meal to see if there is something appealing for him/her to eat.

What I wouldn't do is make a big fuss over it. Kids eat when they're hungry. If you push too hard about eating, your child may resent it. Take a step backward and relax. Remember, if your child is hungry, he or she will eat. If the food is rejected, then he/she doesn't get to eat.

Remember: you are the parent so don't let this child control you. Ask your pediatrician for advice.

Good old spaghetti.

It's so easy and I don't know any kids who don't love it!

I take a pound of ground beef, brown it. I season it while it's cooking, using parsley, basil, oregeno, a little seasoning salt and garlic powder. When the meat is alsmost done, I put in the 'special' ingredient which is a little more than a table spoon of brown sugar.

To make it simple, I also just use the jarred Prego sauce, mix that with the meat, and put it over the noodles...it'll be a new favorite!

Good lcuk!

As a child, I was a very picky eater! My whole family is vegetarian, so I grew up with a similar diet. It sounds awful, but I just didn't have a choice. My mom would make food, and then just say 'you have to eat it.' I'd complain, and whine, but she would just give me this look that said 'you better eat it, or youre going to be hungry!' Two decades later, I still eat what she makes, only now, I know it's good for me!

good luck!

p.s. i grew up eating a lot of lentils-- very healthy, and delicious! Also, what is really good is fruit smoothies made with soy milk! it really does taste like a milkshake. Also, chili is a good choice.

Eat it in front of them, enjoying each chew with gusto. Tell them it is soooo good but for "big people, they're not ready yet".....eventually they will BEG you for some, too. This works 100% of time. Also, even when they're 3 or 4, you can make up names. My boys said they did not like "chili" because aoarently their pal didn't like chili. They had a favorite kids Tv personality called "Buckshot" so i told them I was making a special treat for them, I had called Buckshot and got his recipe for Buckshot Beans"...They were so excited and lapped it all up....if you made an eggplant casserole, for example, you could call it "Spiderman Stew", you get the idea...

correct, if you dont eat it, they wont either.. but maybe you can have a play date with some other mothers baby that is an eating machine, and your little one watches the other kid and wants in on the goodies..
I also made everything look as colorful and fun as I could.. I made olive eyeballs, spider meat balls (with ramen noodles sticking out), shaped hotdogs in circles and made smiley faces on pancakes.. using every type of gimick I could.. cookie cutters came in handy..My son liked it when I cut out a man (gingerbread cutter) of his toast... string cheese came in handy..

my cousin is 2 and a picky eater. the only meat she likes is sausage so if we want her to eat a hamburger or something similar looking thats what we tell her. find a food they like and another one similar and tell them its their fav food. should work if not let them decide on their own. one day they will ask for it and love it. so good luck

you pretty much can't make them eat any certain food, but keep introducing different foods. maybe tell them they need to take one or two bites before they leave the table. It's not worth a battle to get them to eat what they won't as long as they are getting proper nutrients.

Add meat into his soup, its probably more tasty than just vegetables. You can also try to fry chicken or fish and add to his rice porridge. Its enough yummy for him.

My daughter will eat anything if I place small drops of ketchup, ranch dipping sauce, thousand island dressing or something like that on it.
