why do people think that Washington didn't want to lead the army?

i am amazed at how many people actually think this,or he took the army out of a sense of duty. do they not know that Washington as soon as they said at congress they that they needed a commander and chief of the army.He started showing up to meetings in uniform. that right there should proves he wanted the army and why can't they see that he was a southern gentlemen and he was being modest by acting like they were twisting his arm to do it

I don't know about leading the Army, but I don't think he was to high on being the first President.
