I have not got the book because I drink cider!

The Red Lion although i only know one pub called this within a distance of 20 miles to me

it would be called an "Inn" and it is an old English word were people would not just go for drinking, people who did not want to be found by the town/county militia used to frequent these places, they also had rooms above the drinking area or "Drinking Den" of the building, where you could sleep for the night, however, the rooms wouldn't have been very comfortable and the bed ould most likely have been a straw mattress or some other form of simple bed.

Also, the most common name would have to be something like "The Kings/Queens arms" and this dates back to when the building was an armoury/local militia recruiting station at some point in its history.
