Why is it people get on the tattoo section, to ask questions like will getting a pericing or a tattoo hurt? Lets be honest people, someone will tell you OMG IT HURT SO BAD. Other people will tell you neh.. didn't hurt at all... When will people learn that pain is not something anyone can compare...
Or my second favorite... let me get online and ask people who have never met me and have no idea who I am and what Im about what tattoo I should get and where. ITS PERMANANT!! Don't let internet junkies tell you what artwork to put on your skin. Ok.. anyone else with me on this? Please... I just needed to make sure Im not the only one practically pulling my hair out everytime i read this crap.

Not everyone here is an internet junkie.
When I answer questions, I remind people that they will feel SOMETHING, but how bad it will hurt really depends on them and the person doing the tattoo/piercing. Often, people just want to be able to set their mind at ease so they aren't panicking and freaking out...its curiosity and psychology of sorts
As far as people wanting to know what they should get done, maybe they aren't trying to get just anything tattooed on them, maybe they are looking for an idea they haven't thought of or a place they didn't consider. I doubt anyone leaves this page thinking "someone told me to get a pony tattoo, so I will"
You should not and cannot assume you know 100% of the time what someone is wondering about when they ask questions. And often, people simplify questions and they come out wrong. This being an open forum and a place for anyone, you should expect some bluntly stupid questions and some other questions that are just curious and worrisome.

I agree with what you're saying but if someone is asking a question don't you think they deserve an honest answer. They are asking for information from people who have experienced the pain/pleasure of a tattoo. It's all relatively a simple question. The information they get back is just that information.
On your second question I totally agree. Never have someone else dictate what you do whether it be a tattoo, life, material things, etc. Everyone has control of their own actions and choosing a tattoo is no different. just tell people who ask this question to look into themselves and find something that represents who they are, get an idea and work on it with the artist no tattoo should ever be general or a copy of another. Express yourself.
Patience is a virtue.

I don't get the "does it hurt" questions. I mean, come on. It's a wound for pete's sake.
Though I understand why people might want some suggestions. I don't think it's sane to say "hey, I want a tattoo, but I don't know what to get or where. Give me suggestions!" because of your point above. The asking for suggestions I do understand though are the ones from people who have an idea, but don't know how realistic it would be in tattoo form. Not everything is possible from every artist. And though it would be best to actually talk to the artist you are going to, because they know their limitations, some people just want another opinion. I had one artist tell me that I couldn't do have a certain color because it there was too much white to mix in, that it wouldn't stay, while my next artist basically told me that the first one was full of crap. I wish I had known that before I went to that first artist.
One thing people here need to keep in mind, and I don't think that some do, is that in a forum like this, it's all a matter of opinion and that personal experiences vary.
Sorry...got a little long winded there. *shuts up now*

1) About people telling you about pain--it's like child birth; it's different for everyone. If this is your first baby or tatoo, it can be terrifying. Be calmed down by people before you really helps.
2) I do agree with about asking what you should get for a tatoo. I've always been one to believe that you should pick out a design and think about it for a year while you find a parlor. You don't just walk into a random parlor and get your tatoo done; no, you research and find the one that's right for you.
I HATE when 19, 20, 21 year olds get a tattoo at 18 then get it removed because it was a dumb mistake. DUH!

Since you already recognise the fact that this is only pointless internet chatter, shouldn't the real question be why it bothers you so much? You sound like a very unhappy person with alot of pent up hostility. I truly hope you find your peace.
