Marinate your turkey in a brine of water and salt
1gallon of water
1cup kosher salt
1/2cup sugar
heat it up to disolve the salt and sugar. You can ad whatever herbs you like, garlic rosemary, tyme what ever.
Let the brine cool and soak the turkey 10-15lbs 24 hours. you might have to wieght it down with something to keep it down.

To cook it on the bbq you will need a big bbq. get a good amount of coals going and make a ring of coals in the bbq leaving the center empty, like a dounut of coals. put your turkey in a roasting pan and put it on the grill. it will take about 20-25 minutes per pound and you will need to check the coal often so it does go out. Use a thermometer and try to keep the temp at 350. Toward the end you can add wood chips to the coals to give it a smokie flavor. The reason you put it in a roasting pan is so the drippings don't start a fire and burn your bird. I have seen it done.
Most important thing is temp keep the temp up. Oh yea DON'T stuff the bird it will take it longer to cook. I hope this helps.

First, you want to soak your turkey in brine for several hours before you cook it. For bbq turkey, get a smaller turkey (around 12 lbs.).
Buy a marinade syringe and inject your marinade into the turkey itself. Then let it sit for a few hours in the fridge so the marinade works it's way through your turkey.
Get some smoking wood chips, like mesquite or apple to put in your bbq.
I have never personally bbq smoked a turkey, but I have seen it done. The website below gives cooking times and basting intructions.
Hope this helped!

Put some wet hickory or mesquite chips(soak over night and put a plate on top to keep the chips in water) in aluminum foil that has fixed like a pouch, poke small holes in the foil,I use a smoker but have seen it done on tv.It will take 4 to 5 hrs depending on the size of your turkey and don't cook it fast, nice and slow will do it.
